Airport moves closer to tightening taxi rules

The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is inching toward punishing cab drivers who refuse to drive passengers toting alcoholic beverages.

The Metropolitan Airports Commission decided Tuesday to hold a public hearing Feb. 27 before it considers a proposal designed to curb such refusals, which drivers said are based on their religious beliefs.

MAC staff members propose suspending the licenses of drivers who refuse a fare for any reason besides personal safety. Their licenses could be suspended 30 days for the first offense and two years for the second.

Muslim drivers, who make up one-third of airport cabbies, say that the proposed punishment is designed to kick them out of the airport. Many said they quit other jobs that caused them to miss daily prayers, or to directly deal with alcohol or pork, both of which are prohibited in Islam.

Interesting This issue invites a larger discussion.

Muslims are struggling between the messages of some leaders who say it is God’s will that they not be anywhere near alcohol or pork, others say that is not a problem; some Muslim leaders teach that it is permissible to God to cut a man’s head off with a butcher knife, or to strap on a couple of pounds of C4 and light it off in crowded places, some say not only is it permissible, it is manditory..still others say cutting a mans head off with a butcher knife or strapping on a couple of pounds of C4 and lighting it off in crowded places doesn’t really fit into God’s plan at all.

Meanwhile, the Episcopalian faithful have recently given up altogether after several years of conflicting messages on the propriety of having their church officially condone their leaders engaging in sodomy and cut the church in two halves.

Lutherans in America are split into evangelical, liberal and conservative synods..never the twain to meet.

Jews are split into Conservative, Reformed, Orthodox, Hasidic and other camps.

Likewise there are Baptists, Pentecostals Universal Unitarians and a plethora of others all working to cross purposes.

On the planet Earth, there is only one church that speaks with a unified voice: The Catholic Church.

It occurs to me that Christ did indeed know what He was doing when He decreed that there would be one man (the Pope) in authority.

Regarding the Catholic Faith Your comments is somewhat positive as it demonstrates the efforts of religious figures, However with your comment, you are trying to attest that Roman Catholic is the all abiding Religion. YOu forget to mention why the Orthodox broke apart in the first place, and in so doing you have deviated from the point of this issue.

The Actual Conflict lies in this line-  Religious faith vs personal interpretation & its implications on Aiport services & policies.

Muslim cab drivers vs. Airport Policies vs. Passenger’s  Liberty- Customer Representation..

Further investigation must be Made on the interest of the 3 parties involved to come to an agreement in order to Practice a non-partisan policy.  THINK ABOUT IT, before suggesting personal orientation!
