At least 148 immigrants arrested in the Swift & Co. raid in December are charged with identity theft, U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales announced Tuesday.
Agents from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency raided in December six Swift & Co. plants in six states, including Minnesota. They arrested 230 suspected undocumented immigrants in the company’s Worthington plant.
A week after the raid, authorities charged 19 of the Worthington workers with ID theft. It’s not clear if any of the 148 indictments are new.
