With Restrictions, Ramsey County Jail Will Start Housing Immigrants Again

A month after officials at Ramsey County jail suspended housing undocumented immigrants for federal immigration authorities, they announced a change of heart Monday: The county jail will only house immigrants detained in the Twin Cities.
The county also might not hold immigrants detained by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency longer than necessary, said Commissioner Rafael Ortega, who, along with Sheriff Bob Fletcher, advocated for the moratorium last month.
