TIF law won’t change for Bridges

The Bridges of St. Paul development project likely won’t be getting a change in state law. The project originally called for $125 million in TIF money, which HRA Director Cecile Bedor said in a letter last week would not be legal.
Sen. Sandy Pappas, whose district the project is in, said, “I do not support the current Bridges proposal and would not support a change in TIF law. Plus, the St. Paul delegation would not change TIF for a developer without support from the city.”
As it stands now, the proposal does not have that support from the city. To get that support and work with the city and community members, the developer will be working with a TriCouncil Task Force.
