In 2007, Rep. Michele Bachmann sent President Bush a letter recommending he pardon a man who is a major contributor to her campaign even though he lives outside of her district. Last Thursday, Bachmann withdrew that letter, written on behalf of Frank Vennes, after FBI, IRS and U.S Postal Inspection officials seized numerous items from Vennes’ home in connection with the ongoing investigation of Vennes’ business associate Tom Petters.
Vennes served time in the 1980s for illegally selling a firearm, cocaine distribution and money laundering. While in prison, he became a devout Christian, and after his release he became a devout Bachmann campaign contributor. Prior to Bachmann’s election (and letter writing), Vennes contributed $14,200 to her campaign; in 2008, he has contributed $4,600. Vennes’ wife Kimberly, who uses the same P.O. box number as Vennes, has contributed another $8,800 over the last three years.
Vennes is a businessman in Excelsior and maintains a residence in Shorewood. Neither location is in the 6th Congressional District.
Petters and a number of his business associates have been raided and/or arrested in connection with what authorities are calling a scheme to make money by defrauding investors. Federal officials say Petters and company collected money from investors to put into electronics that didn’t exist.

They’ve been whaling away linking Obama to Rev Wright and Ayers, so it’s great justice that Bachmann get her due for wanting to pardon this guy who helps scams occur. Maybe Michelle is right and the guy has reformed, but now certainly its guilt by association time.
From my view Petters is innocent till proven otherwise. Still, Bachmannn should show better jugdement in pardons. May be she should stick to what she knows about:clothes. She’s known as “eye candy” in Washington for fashionista trend setting.

Well, Kudos to Ms Bachmann for taking the high road and based on new information has done an about face on her attempt to get this guy off the hook.
She did not attempt to justify his actions, his not being guilty until proven innocent or slowly backing away depending on how the media or public portray the fallout.
She boldly did the right thing. She was convinced this guy was reformed, but the very possibility of linking him to additional illegal activity means she leaves nothing to chance and cuts her allegience.
This is so head and shoulders above what the democrats have been doing for a decade, which is to come up with excuses and pander to public opinion. Obama being the worst offender of this.
This is just another demonstraion of how good conservatvies operate on integrity and good liberals operate on a win at all cost operandi.

How about investigating Teddie Mondale’s ties to Petter. They go as deep as… as…Toms Vegas dept. And that is deep!

Does this make her anti-American….she should know!
She who lives in a glass house shouldn’t throw stones.
Can citizens of the 6th District tolerate this kind of hypocracy!?
Hopefully not.
Time to throw the “bum-mette” out!
