As the guilt-by-association game continues in the presidential campaign, vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s ties to the Alaska Independence Party are coming under intense scrutiny. Salon.com reports that the founder of AIP, Joe Vogler, asked the Iranian government to sponsor his anti-America speech before the United Nations in 1993.
The speech never happened. Vogler was murdered by a fellow AIP member that year.
The AIP is a secessionist movement in Alaska advocating armed insurrection against the American government. Palin’s husband, Todd, was a member of the AIP for seven years. She spoke at AIP’s 2006 convention and made a video address at the 2008 gathering. Palin praised the group this year. “Keep up the good work,” she said. “And God bless you.”

Sarah Palin thinks the country is so imperfect that she would rather pal around with and be married to anti-American secessionists. The only thing she will do in office is separate us.

Sarah Palin was the Mayor at the time at was just welcoming a large group to have a convention in her town. She did so because of the revenue that was generated for her town. That IS a Mayor obligation. She works for the people….not against them.
Everyone is so quick to jump on the bash Sarah bandwagon. We know more about her in a months time than we do Barack Obama in the last 4 yrs. (inc.18 months campaigning instead of doing what he was hired to do). Why is everyone so scared to really vette this guy. I guess that his threats from all the lawyers have scared any professional jounalist from actually doing their JOB. How sad that we have allowed one person to hold our entire nation hostage so that he maybe become the next POTUS.

Doesn’t the “conspiring to over throw the government” clause enacted during the McCarthy era cover this? Isn’t seceding from the union overthrowing duly constituted legal authority? Where is the right wing when one really needs them?
I envision a ‘Sawing off Alaska video” like Lyndon Johnson did in 1964 when Goldwater suggesed sawing off the East Coast. Where are those You Tube attack squads when you need them?

Wow. McCain is even worse than I thought. To not have done the research on Sarah and Todd Palin before selecting her is outrageously scary. What dumb decisions would McCain make as president and Palin, the bumbling dumb Barbie, backing him up? WOW. McCain may not be Bush but he would certainly be worse.
Our country deserves a level headed, intelligent leader. OBAMA!
