CREW Alleges Living Word Paid for Pastor’s Stunt Plane
Friday, February 09, 2007 at 11:17 am
Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) today provided the Internal Revenue Service additional information, alleging further improper financial support from Living Word Christian Center (LWCC) for its pastor, Mac Hammond.
CREW alleges that the Brooklyn Park church may have been paying for a stunt plane that Hammond owned. According to CREW, Federal Aviation Administration records show Hammond is the owner of a 1995 Flugzeugbau EA-300L, which the manufacturer describes as “the premiere aerobatic, sport and professional aircraft on the market today.”
In a statement, CREW executive director Melanie Sloan said, “If LWCC was paying for costs associated with a stunt plane, clearly the church would be in violation of federal law.

The plot thickens Of course, this is probably just a vast, liberal, left-wing conspiracy to persecute the honest and ethical Living Word pastor who could do no wrong because he said he had Jesus in his heart.
It is a sad day for those who know, understand and truly practice Christian values.

Michele Bachmann’s Jet Rides Anyone ever wonder whose corporate/private jet Michele might be using on the trips to/from D.C.?

Just the facts ma’am. I am surprised the MinnMon would just slavishly reprint a CREW press release. This is not journalism.
What is even more surprising (I am not that familiar with this site) is that you would omit a crucial point-the final sentence of the original fourth paragraph-”It is unclear how long Mr. Hammond has owned this plane and whether LWCC paid for any of its related costs.” And “If LWCC was paying for costs…” then there would be a violation of federal law.
In other words CREW’s allegation has no basis whatsoever. The only fact they have presented is that Rev. Hammond owns a stunt plane-no violation of any federal law I know of. The rest of the press release is sheer speculation.

There are always two sides to every pancake. “What is even more surprising is that you would omit a crucial point-the final sentence of the original fourth paragraph-”It is unclear how long Mr. Hammond has owned this plane and whether LWCC paid for any of its related costs.” And “If LWCC was paying for costs…” then there would be a violation of federal law. It’s amazing how fully researching the subject has evaded the media…if there is proof of illegalities, then please provide it through documention, or simple shut up! No one cares about your speculation or false accusions.

CREWS Record as Compared to….. CREW has a stellar record? As compared to who? …say Faegre and Benson the law firm Living Word says they use? (which by the way by my MONITORING as a stellar record for diversity and supporting the liberal/gay community.) Perhaps compared to the multiple banks and their loan committees who must have reviewed all these documents and then loaned Living Word 25 Million? Maybe CREW has a stellar record when compared to the Accounting firm which they say and the documents verify audits them each year? I am so glad CREW is on the case to CATCH all the mistakes these people obviously must have made and all the laws they have broken! It is clear to me without CREW and the “reporting” of the MN Monitor, they will all along with their board and the thousands of members remain involved in huge illegal conspiracy to make their pastor rich as they play loose with the rules…yeh right PLEASE HAVE A BRAIN!!!!

Thank you for your comment It’s not the media’s job to evaluate the ‘proof’ but to report the facts and let the reader decide. Not one of our posts on this issue have levelled a false accusation. We have not speculated, but simply reported the facts. CREW is speculating wrongdoing, which is why they have filed a complaint. We are reporting on CREW’s speculation, as are many newspapers around the country. If you disagree with the facts presented, then please refute them.

Crew has a stellar record? Are you kidding? Crew has a stellar record? Are you kidding? That’s like saying Minnesota Monitor has a stellar record. Publishing confidential records is ethical and stellar? Where did they come from? Were they stolen? Did someone bribe someone to get them? Is publishing records that are not public information ethical? Is making allegations such as CREW’s allegations that the Brooklyn Park church may have been paying for a stunt plane that Mac Hammond owned ethical and stellar? What did they base that on? That he owned one? They never put forth any information to support that allegation. You all seem so busy trying to discredit someone with 27 years of history of good will in the community with allegations and yet you call that ethical and stellar?
All anyone has to do is click on any of your links or the links of any of the authors of your articles and their other web sites and posts to see your biasses against Republicans, against conservatives, against Christians, against anything you disagree with.
Only those blinded with your prejudices and biasses are unable to see through the thin veil of your efforts to discredit good people such as Pastor Mac Hammond and Congresswoman Michele Bachmann to achieve your agendas. What a stellar record! Without a doubt, you have no idea what the words ethical or stellar mean!

are you kidding me? Are you kidding? Could people just mind their own damn business!?
So it’s not enoough that Mac has given thousands to charity projects, inner city outreach, volunteer efforts in our public schools, provided numerous jobs and careers, inspired people across our nation, supporting our great nation in the military. ??? Why don’t they really humiliate him and go thru his drawers too?!
Truth be told Pastor had his very own self earned money before he ever came into the “ministry” and he and his family reside in a nice but modest home for the past 20 some years .
And the one thing I know about him is he tells the truth! He also is quick to mercy and second chances to people who screw up!
just a few thoughts

The reality “Truth be told Pastor had his very own self earned money before he ever came into the “ministry” and he and his family reside in a nice but modest home for the past 20 some years.”
Not true. According to Hammond himself and the Star Tribune:
“He was also struggling to pay debts and about $100,000 in back taxes. His air cargo business was for sale. A decade later, he said he still didn’t own a home or car, or have any savings.”

Star Trib & the Truth? So now you’re saying that everything the Strib reports is totally accurate? Get real!
I read that piece and it is filled with statements that don’t give the whole picture on many issues and allegations that it presents. It is written in a way to produce mistrust, strife & division, and to slander the name of a good man and a wonderful church/organization.
It’s written so that people unfamiliar with or new to the ministry will immediately have suspicion, doubt, anger, resentment, and numerous other negative emotions toward the ministry.
Throwing in a phrase like: “Several current or former employees and volunteers who didn’t want their names used said . . .

the strib was wrong we have tape stating Hammond demanded a tithe from his employees. The Strib allowed Redman to lie.
