Obama to Announce Presidential Campaign Today
Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 12:31 pm
Senator Barack Obama (D-Ill.) will be announcing his campaign for president today. The Senator will be announcing from Springfield, Ill., but will have various events held throughout the country, including one local event at the Global Market in Minneapolis.
Local blogosphere reaction is enthused, yet cautious.
“I personally love Barack Obama, but I am an issues man. I need a universal healthcare initiative from all the candidates before I can make my decision,” says Jason B. of I Don’t Hate America. “Because of that, I am leaning toward John Edwards because of his great universal healthcare plan.”
Flash, of Centrisity, is weighing his options as well. “I’d take him over Hillary, but still prefer Richardson, with a level of intrigue towards Al Gore. And it’s only February . . . . ’07!!”
Flash interviewed the Senator last March, when Obama was in town for an event for then senatorial candidate and eventual seat winner Amy Klobuchar. His interview can be found here.
Reporter Abdi Aynte will provide coverage of the Obama announcement later this afternoon.
UPDATE: Abdi’s coverage here.
