Take Action Minnesota endorsed candidates for St. Paul City Council Monday night. The progressive advocacy group met at the Wellstone Center to pick candidates to support.
The only incumbent endorsed was Lee Helgen in Ward 5 for his stance on the Living Wage ordinance, which he wrote and worked to get through the council.
In Ward 1, challenger Melvin Carter III was endorsed over incumbent council member Debbie Montgomery, who chose not to be screened by the group. The group’s pick for Ward 4, which has been vacated by Jay Benanav, was Bernie Hesse. The Ward 6 endorsement went to Pakou Hang; incumbent council member Dan Bostrom declined to be screened.
