Poll numbers released by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee on Thursday show Rep. Michele Bachmann leading Elwyn Tinklenberg by 4 points. Bachmann garnered the support of 42 percent of those polled while Tinklenberg had 38 percent. The poll says Bachmann’s approval rating in the 6th Congressional is at 34 percent.
It’s a Democratic poll so appropriate caveats apply, but in a race that has seen little polling in the last two months, it’s the only gauge of the electorate available for October.
The poll was released as the DCCC, which added Tinklenberg to its Red to Blue list, begins pouring money into the race, and as a pardon letter Bachmann wrote for Petters scandal figure Frank Vennes Jr. raises questions.
Meanwhile, Zach Stephenson at MNPublius reports that in some off-the-record conversations with GOP insiders there is a sense of concern over the district. “I’ve spoken to several Republicans tonight who tell me that internal Republican polling has Michele Bachmann with just a five point lead over El Tinklenberg.”

That undecided vote is pretty impressive. I wonder where it would be if leaners were pushed like pollsters often do.

Bachman is actually quite scary. Just saw her on Hardball and she is suggesting some pretty crazy and far out there ideas. The woman sent shivers down my spine, not because of anything but her lack of true knowledge about how this great nation works. She is paranoid, ignorant, angry and fearful, all ingredients that scream danger. She also seems quite desperate. She is tied to Bush 100% and then some.

I wasn’t even paying attention to this race until I saw this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESdA52S4Dbg
I think she is a woman who has gone a bit too far into the extreme herself on this.

I hope people will take the time to take note of Bachmann’s over the top comments she made on Hardball Oct 17. She called for an investigation by the press into all of Congress to weed out all who are “anti-American”. Do Americans need to see Minnesota below the face of someone who is making such outrageous remarks that will offend all but the far right?

After her interview with Chris Matthews on Hardball today
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESdA52S4Dbg
the undecideds will have a lot easier time deciding. Do we really want Joseph Goebbels McCarthy back?

We need to hard at the undecideds with Bachmann’s ugly “anti-Americanism” diatribe—see the video on Daily Kos or Huffington Post.
Independents don’t like her kind of divisiveness.
Bachmann just became one of the poster people of 2008. It is up to you, Minnesota, to put an end to this kind of idiocy! Get her out and Franken in!

After witnessing Rep Michelle Bachmann’s diatribe on Chris Matthews’ Hardball program this evening, I may not sleep tonight. Her call for a “media investigation of all members of Congress to determine who is ‘un-American’ is simply McCarthyism rearing its ugly head yet again. I am old enough to remember McCarthy and it wasn’t pretty.
Even though I live in Texas, I have donated to Mr Tinklenberg’s campaign in hopes that it will help him defeat Ms. Bachmann.

I am a lifelong New Yorker, but I just donated to my second race in Minnesota. The first one was for Al Franken. I never heard of Tinkleberg and Bachmann till tonight when I watched Rachel Maddow. Let’s make Republicans a thing of the past. Oh wait, they already are. Let’s just vote them out.

I live in Phoenix. I have always found Bachman hilariously retarded. What she said tonight however was scary. I don’t have much money but I donated to Tinklenberg tonight. If you live in her district please take someone to the polls with you…

As a former long time resident of Minnesota (Cottage Grove – 1960 – 1972), and a 1972 graduate of the University of Minnesota, with family that still lives there, I strongly urge you to do all you can to get rid of Michele “Josephine McCarthy” Bachmann.
I saw her Friday, October 17, 2008, interview on Hardball on MSNBC. The woman is an odious and disgusting individual who should not be allowed anywhere near the U.S. Congress.
As a result, I contributed $50 to Mr. Tinklenberg. Please do the same.
Please make me proud to be a Minnesotan.

I live in Florida and had not heard of Michelle Bachmann until her appearance on Hardball last night. At first I wondered why Matthews was letting her just ramble on with one paranoid claim after another but then his method became clear. He realized he had a dim one on the line and just let her keep talking until she did herself in with full-throated McCarthyism.
I just sent her opponent a contribution.

Since Bachmann’s obscene diatribe on Hardball, Americans around the country have responded. http://www.actblue.com reports over $104,000 for El Tinklenbergas of 10am Saturday. I’m from New Jersey. I don’t even know Tinklenberg, but I sent him $25.

Everybody across America who believes in making a brighter future for our country, lets show that ignorant Minnesota congresswoman Michelle Bachmann what being truly patriotic and American is! Right now go to Mr. El Tinkenberg,( her opponent for the 6th district) and donate to his campaign what ever you can afford. Keep un-American congresswoman like Michelle Bachmann out of our government, her attitude, ignorance, and lack of for our great country and people will not be tolerated!!!!

I am from Colorado and a longterm Independent. I too just contributed to Mr. Tinkleberg’s campaign for the first time after visiting his website to peruse his current views and experience. Bachmann’s condemning, gutter snipe, tirade during the friday Hardball telecast represents the worst of America and a resurgence back to “McCarthywasm” and the House of Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC). I hope that my friends in Minnesota fully comprehend and condemn this fringe mentality that appears to sprout up in the most embarrassing way, in one’s backyard.

I’ve had the displeasure to watch a previous interview where she could not give any reason why Sarah Palin was qualified… she just looked into the camera with big eyes and a plastic smile and it was really weird. Bounce to yesterday’s Hardball rant and I was truly FRIGHTENED! I felt I watched Satan’s bastard child spewing venom.
Anyway, I live in Texas and made a contribution to her opponent – http://www.actblue.com/entity/fundraisers/18660 I’m disabled and on a very small income so I checked the “other” box. $5.00. Every bit helps and I wish others to know that you can offer a small donation, even a single dollar.
Then I went on a little bit of gogglevestigation and found really freaky stuff. This woman’s husband, Marcus, is a big fat nellie closet queen that offers counseling to “degay” gay people. Ya know, “pray away the gay”. Michelle publicly refuses to use the term “gay” for “dysfunctional homosexuals”. Thease people are so friggin weird – Ted Haggard’s kinda couple.
It just hit me! Remember Karen Black in the infamous Trilogy of Terror Zuni/Voodoo Doll episode? MB looks like KB in the final scene! IY IY IY IY IY IY IY!!!!
She looks like the doll, actually!

Way to go Michelle! Michelle made GREAT points regarding the people whom Obama has associated himself. She has a firm knowledge of some critical problems in DC and the lack of concern on this site regarding those associations is astounding.
Tell you what…if Chris Matthews had associated with Bin Laden the way Obama associated with Ayers Homeland security would be talking to him. They SHOULD be talking with Obama. Obama has continually tried to downplay the relationships with Wright and Ayers. When you sit in a church for 20 years and never ‘hear’ the anti-america garbage that was spewed in that ‘church’ then you don’t have the listening skills required for office. But in reality Obama DID hear it and chose to stay…and THAT tells a reasonable person all he/she SHOULD need to know about that candidate’s fitness for office.

WOW! Just watched Rep Bachmann on HardBall. How’d a tyrant, with a dialogue like that ever get elected in the first place. The idea of an election is to vote for the candidate that cares about the concerns of the masses. How dare she spew all that anti-American rhetoric at a time like this. Minnesota voters should forget party lines and vote for someone who cares about the people. The people ARE the country. I live in Florida and we have some nuts running the asylum too. I’d vote for Homer Simpson before I’d vote for Bachmann. I recommend voting your conscience, not a party line. It’s served me well over the years.

After watching Michelle Bachman I could only wonder how she got elected. Do the people who elected this woman really buy into her divisive venom? We’ve effectively had 10 years of conservative rule by the Republicans, someone would have to be in a coma not to see we are in dangerous times because of their blind arrogance. That someone of her caliber is a member of the United States Congress should make anyone realize what dangerous times we are in. It is one thing to be a conservative and quite another to be a dangerous fanatical demagogue dividing our country when we need so desperately to work together to heal the wounds of our country. God bless America and save us from a future like Michelle Bachman would want.

Bachmann has always been scary. She is far-right. Notice how she only attacks and simply repeats what the neo-cons feed her. She is like Palin… No original thoughts, just attack and repeat attacks. She uses terms like anti-American, far-left, liberal, radical, etc etc. But she never defines what any of the terms mean. I could write a program to stand in for Bachmann, and it won’t even require artificial intelligence… “you are a liberal… you hate America… drill baby drill… you anti-American… ”
I’m in MN, but I’m not in her district. I hope that they get her out of there this year. I’ve seen her on CSPAN a few times and she is nutty…

Okay, Minnesota — enough is enough. Bachmann has dived over the line of any acceptable political behavior. Get rid of her! But you’ll be stricken from the Union, and we’ll tax everything that crosses the state line…including the air you breathe!

As scary as Bachmann’s remarks may be, I am much more scared of the people that elected her and, very possibly, will re-elect her despite (or perhaps because) of her remarks.
It is far from certain that our great American experiment will survive. I think many “pro-Americans” would be very happy to move toward fascism if it brought about a cultural cleaning of “anti-Americans” in this country.
The pro-American fundamentalist right-wingers have no idea how much they share with the fundamentalist Muslims in the Middle East today and pro-German German citizen in 1930’s.

If you’re a Republican in Minnesota’s 6th Congressional District, please note that Aubrey Immelman, Ph.D., a professor of political psychology at St. John’s University and the College of St. Benedict, registered yesterday (10/18) as a write-in candidate. Aubrey lost to Bachmann in the primary.

What I’m concerned about is where did she obtain her views on America? We talk about the extreme schools in the middle east and extremist in the Islamic faith. Now we have Bachmann claiming her “anti-American” comments were a misreading of what she said. A misreading of a live TV interview? Medical science has developed drugs for the serious psychological aberration that is plaguing Bachmann. I suggest she double her dosage.
I also suggest a nice long rest, OUT OF OFFICE, until she’s feeling better. Come on, Minnesota, let’s help her out here. Vote her into a more calm and comfortable environment while she pursues her mental health: her home.

I urge my fellow Minnesotans up in the sixth district to realize that these statements were not isolated “slip-ups” or infelicities which mask Rep. Bachmann’s true beliefs.
Anyone willing to go through the misery of running for the United States congress, and to spend years at what can be a very thankless job (just ask former DFL Representative Tim Penny) can hardly be accused of having an ulterior “anti-American” agenda. Rep. Bachmann should know this since she should know her colleagues – even those with whom she disagrees politically! The very fact that she would entertain such an idea – even if she now regrets formulating it in the way that she did – shows not only a complete lack of collegiality, but a frightening perspective on average Minnesotans in her constituency. How many of us, if we happen to disagree with her, would she brand “anti-American”.
Unfortunately, I’m in the second district – but even as we will be working to oust Rep. Kline and elect Steve Sarvi down here, I encourage my fellow Minnesotans to remove Rep. Bachmann from office by voting for Mr. Tinklenberg.

I live in the 4th district and know many people from the 6th. Picture, if you will, outer ring suburbs, an SUV, a 1 ton pickup, a 4 place snowmobile trailer, and a fishing boat in every driveway. Picture people whos’ biggest political wants are as follows:
1) gun rights
2) elimination of taxation which goes toward welfare (but corporate welfare is OK)
3) elimination or prevention of gay rights
4) to make gods laws, our laws
5) elimination anything which goes against the bylaws of the “good ol boys club”
You can round out the top 10 by repeating the 1st 5. No…..wait, simply tranplant Sarah Palins constituency a few thousand miles southeast and and you have Minnesota’s 6th district. My apologies go out to the dozen or so people (out of 614,935) for which my stereotype may not be valid.
