West Central Tribune Joins in Asking Bachmann to Clarify Statement
Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at 11:14 am
On the heels of the DFL, the Star Tribune and the 6th District’s own St.Cloud Times, The West Central Tribune is now also asking Congresswoman Michele Bachmann to further explain her comments about the partitioning of Iraq. Unlike the earlier papers, however, the Tribune pulls no punches:
Her comments, if true, are a very serious matter with national security implications.
If her statement was based on classified material, then she was careless and she has hurt her own credibility.
Bachman’s[sic] comments are important because we are in the midst of serious debate on the Iraq war, both within Congress and in the American public.
If her comments were not true, then this freshmen representative has committed a serious foot-in-the-mouth blunder. Or has she just become so overwhelmed with her own stature that she believes she can say whatever she wants? The question remains as to what her intentions were when making these comments.
The people of the 6th District and Minnesota deserve an answer from Bachmann.
Bachmann has refused all requests for additional interviews from various media outlets since her remarks began receiving attention last Friday.
