Fox anticipated Bachmann plea for media witch hunt with Glenn Beck hire

What would it look like if the media took up U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann’s call to hunt down anti-American members of Congress? Look no farther than this headline from Friday, the day Bachmann made her plea to the press for a Capitol Hill witch hunt: “CNN’s Beck Decamps for Fox News.

Right-wing host Glenn Beck, who will command a much bigger audience with a daily show at Fox than he did at CNN’s Headline News channel, is best known for this gem, addressed to U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison in November 2006, on the occasion of Ellison’s election as the first Muslim in the U.S. Congress: “Sir, prove to me that you are not working with our enemies.” Video after the jump (sorry if you’ve already showered).

“”What would it look like if the media took up U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann’s call to hunt down anti-American members of Congress?”"

It would look like the investigations done on Sarah Palin and her family.

But yes, that was a silly question by Beck. Pulling out of Iraq is a standard democrat campaign stance and Keith is a democrat so there is no reason to beleive that there is anything fishy going on there.

However, there are some that foolishly might think that, and Beck, by asking that question in a respectful manner, may have helped put some of those thoughts to rest.

The only difference is that Beck’s question is based on racist, xenophobic ignorance, and intentional conflation of religion and terrorism, whereas Michelle Bachmann – I mean Sarah Palin – has actual ties to Anti-American, secessionist separatist activists. Other than that, I take your point.

It seems that McCarthyism is back. Congressman Ellison does not have to prove anything to Bachmann or Beck. As an American of Jewish ethnicity I am disgusted by their xenophobic hatemongery.
