Kline Launches New Attack on Rowley, Bailey

John Kline continues to run a bitter race against unpaid Coleen Rowley campaign staffer David Bailey. The Star Tribune is reporting that Kline has launched his third attack against Bailey in as many weeks, this time with a flyer suggesting that Rowley has lost control of her campaign, one that says “the inmates have taken over the asylum.”According to the Strib:
The ad also calls into question Rowley’s support from liberal donors, including one whose occupation was listed in the flier as a “Hollywood liberal.”
Rowley, a retired FBI agent who won prominence as a whistle-blower in the investigation of terror suspect Zacarias Moussaoui, denounced the brochure as a negative and misleading personal attack.
“The gist is to try to make me look crazy with a picture of me on one side and huge letters asking ‘HAS COLEEN ROWLEY LOST CONTROL?’ ” she said.
The concluding line about inmates taking over the asylum is directed at Rowley campaign aide David Bailey, who has been sparring publicly with the Kline campaign in recent weeks.
It is the third time in the past month that Kline’s campaign has targeted Bailey, who helps Rowley write her position papers.
Later today we’ll have an interview up with Coleen Rowley, who last Friday noted that Kline’s attacks are suggestive of a closer race than many expected.
