Women4JohnMcCain: ‘A woman’s choice is probably best left to old rich white men’

A new web site, Women4McCain, aims to set the record straight: They’re not, and neither is he. That is, they’re not for McCain and nor is McCain for women’s issues. In full-on Stephen Colbert-style irony, the web site at first blush looks pro-McCain, until you actually read the text, like this line scrolling across a pic of McCain in a tux raising his glass for a toast: “A real family man. Real Experience with Real Women. Lots of them.” The site also includes “Cindy’s Recipes,” like the tasty treats her quarter of a million a year in hired help serves.

Sure, it’s a spoof site, and a hilarious one at at that. But like most great comedy, it also serves to challenge, inform, and incite. It includes pages about serious women’s issues, from education to pay to health care, and quotes and voting records for McCain. Of course everything is parsed in satirical style, even though the content is purely factual. And the writers also include stunning “endorsements,” like this one from fomer GOP majority whip Top Delay: “There’s nothing redeeming about John McCain…he’s a hypocrite.” And did we mention the logo? It’s a clothing hanger. And it’s “McCain Style.”
