NY Post retraction: No caviar for Michelle Obama
Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 10:19 am
When I was traveling around the state last week in pursuit of Todd Palin, a frequent topic of conservative talk radio was Michelle Obama’s lavish, mid-afternoon room-service purchase of champagne, lobster and caviar at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York. This indulgence was trumpeted as the latest evidence that the Obamas are out-of-touch elitists who can’t understand the struggles of tax deadbeats like Joe the Plumber.
Unfortunately it turns out that the lobster-champagne-caviar spread never occurred. In fact, Michelle Obama wasn’t staying at the Waldorf-Astoria. The New York Post’s Page Six has now retracted the story. I’m sure Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity will be apologizing to their listeners for the misinformation.

MN Independent, that is laughable, from a state that has leaned radical left since before humphry. If this was independent where are the columns from Jason Lewis to balance the leftist slant.
On the elitists in question here, it is ironic that the post (who would do anything for money) retracted an elitist story about MS Obama, about the same time the media released front page news about Ms Palins “Shopping Spree” that really wasnt a “Spree” but an ongoing upgrade of her wardrobe since before the convention.
Both these stories should never have passed the smell test and have no bering on the quality and character of the people invovled.

The attack on Michelle Obams is another example of not letting the facts get in the way of political mud slinging underscoring the level of hate being generated by the GOP as a means to denigrate their political opponents; which as most polls indicate is being viewed as abhorrent by the electorate While I appreciate the Navy Seals adage “if you’re not cheating, you’re not trying hard enough”: can we at least agree that our national discourse should at be reality based?
