A slew of new polls released this morning look ominous for John McCain’s presidential hopes. The Big Ten Battleground surveys show Barack Obama with double-digit leads in both Ohio (+12) and Indiana (+10), states that most recent polls have shown to be extremely tight. Meanwhile the Big Ten polls finds the Democrat maintaining formidable leads in Pennsylvania (+11), Minnesota (+19), Wisconsin (+13) and Iowa (+13).

The survey could possibly be discounted as an outlier, but Quinnipiac University comes up with similar results in polling released today. It shows Obama with a 52-38 lead in Ohio, a 53-40 lead in Pennsylvania and a 49-44 lead in Florida.

(On a semi-related note: The Big Ten Network will be airing a show featuring Big Ten faculty members analyzing these latest poll results and the presidential campaign today at 3 p.m. CDT.)
