Bachmann Plea for Support Generates One Letter from GOP Staffer
Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at 1:20 pm
An emailed request for supportive letters to the editor appears not to have elicited much support for embattled U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn.
Since Heidi Frederickson, Bachmann’s press secretary, requested support in a possibly illegal email last week, only one letter to the editor has been published in a local newspaper. And the letter-writer has ties to the Republican Party. The sole letter to the editor was written by Brad Kustermann and appeared in the Saint Cloud Times. A commenter on the Wonkette weblog noted that Kustermann is employed as a legislative assistant by the State Senate Minority Caucus.
Bachmann has been tight-lipped since the email from Frederickson was sent out; she has yet to respond to any members of the local media regarding the email.

What has the Ethics Committee had to say about this? Specifically, Ethics Committee Member John Kline.
Is anybody getting a legal opinion on this?

Doesn’t the DFL have a lawyer they can consult on this? I, too, thought someone was looking into the legality of this mess. Maybe I’ll write my congresswoman about it.
