After being homeless for three months, KMOJ-FM has found a place to set up shop again. The Center for Communication and Development, which runs the station, said today that the station will be moving to a temporary location in the Uptown neighborhood of Minneapolis.

“It’s been a long, hard search but we feel we’ve found a scenario that works best for this organization,” said KMOJ general manager Kelvin Quarles in a press release.

In December, the nonprofit station was forced to move out of its north Minneapolis studio, then housed in a facility owned by the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority, after it became uninhabitable. It has been broadcasting from a temporary site since then.

The station, which has been on the air for more than 30 years, hopes to build its own place in north Minneapolis while it is in temporary quarters, Quarles said.

Earlier this month, the station dismissed an hourlong Thursday night program hosted by Spike Moss, a leading Twin Cities civil rights activist. Moss has been hosting the program “Voices of the African American Community” for more than 12 years.
