Is McCain conceding Minnesota?

John McCain’s campaign is scaling back its ad buys in Minnesota, according to an Associated Press report. Until recently it was one of the few states in the country where the Republican was outspending his Democratic counterpart.
The McCain campaign originally reserved $96,600 of air time on KARE-TV (Channel 11) from October 17 to 26, but trimmed that back to $80,000 and added six days to the buy. That translates into just 10 commercials airing this week on the station. At KMSP-TV (Channel 9), he is set to run five spots this week, according to the AP analysis. Overall the Obama campaign was slated to spend $1.6 million on TV buys in the Twin Cities market over the final four weeks of the campaign, compared to $1 million for McCain.
The cutbacks come as polls have consistently shown Barack Obama with a formidable lead in Minnesota. The most recent composite of polls tabulated by Real Clear Politics shows the Democrat with an average advantage of 11.3 percentage points.

I expect the poll results would be no different if Pawlenty were the VP candidate. He should heed this message for 2012.
