Video: Obama and McCain play “inexperience” card

Two new ads for the presidential campaigns could be summed up thusly:

McCain: “Barack Obama is not ready… yet.”

Obama: “Sarah Palin is not ready… at all.”

The McCain commercial drives down a familiar road, stating that Obama is inexperienced, but it ends with a curious addition: “Yet.” Is this McCain’s way of sounding conciliatory — like, he acknowledges that Obama will be a great leader, but it’s too soon to elect him?

Obama’s commercial strikes me as more effective. It uses a series of onscreen quotes by McCain about his own lack of understanding of economic matters, including one that says he’ll “have to rely on a Vice President that I select for expertise on economic issues.” Given the state of the economy, his pick is… Sarah Palin?

Watch them both after the jump.

McCain: “Not Ready Yet”

Obama: “His Choice”
