U.S. attorneys local news vacuum: Hailing the very few reports we’ve seen — by KSTP, Nick Coleman at the Star Tribune and Minnesota Campaign Report — Rake media writer Brian Lambert wonders why the local mainstream media have waited so long to look for a possible local component in the growing U.S. attorneys scandal — and specifically the resignation of  Tom Heffelfinger and his replacement as U.S. attorney for Minnesota, Rachel Paulose. “The time is overripe for the Star Tribune to run … SOMETHING … on this,” he wrote.

SPNN wins New Voices grant: According to MNSpeak, the St. Paul Neighborhood Network, a media-access organization that runs five community stations on cable TV, won a J-Lab grant from the University of Maryland. Chosen from more than 100 entries, SPNN’s “New Voices” grant will “create and pay for a network of citizen journalists to cover neighborhood and municipal news for use by media outlets throughout the Twin Cities.”United flies from Fallon: United Airlines, a client of Minneapolis-based advertising powerhouse Fallon Worldwide since 2001, has decided to end that relationship to go with a smaller, just-formed group. Barrie D’Rozario Murphy was founded by former Fallon creative directors Bob Barrie and Stuart D’Rozario, who worked on United’s “It’s time to fly” campaign. They’re joined by David Murphy, who just stepped down as the president of Saatchi & Saatchi in Torrance, Calif.  United’s global ad spending this year could top $100 million.
