Bad Fido Owner!

Pet owners in St. Paul may have to shape up or stop getting new pooches. City Council President Kathy Lantry has proposed an ordinance that would revoke dog owners’ licenses if they have had any dogs removed twice from their care within the past five years.
Lantry said the changes were not prompted by recent dogs attacks, but by a pit bull owner in her East Side ward who treats his dogs like “disposable items.“
Animal-control workers have removed dogs from the house and destroyed them, but neighbors have complained when the owner simply acquired more dogs. Lantry said that it’s often too costly to build a court case against such bad owners. The proposal includes an appeals process, she said.
“This man trains dogs to fight, we take them away and destroy them and he gets new ones,“ she said. “We need to have more control.“
