what’s wrong with the anti-christ? Why does the anti-christ always take the wrap for everything. It seems to me that we’ve had 2000-plus years with the posi-christ and nothing much seems to have changed. We still have war, murder, starvation, poverty, hatred, racism, anti-semitism and a host of other nastiness, all on the posi-christ watch.

A little anti-christ might be just the antidote!

It is my belief also that Obama and his family are good people and of good character as Martin Luther King said a man or woman should be judged not by the colour of their skin or indeed whether they are a republican or a democrat but by their character.. Whatever Obama’s previous voting record on abortion. He has pledged to listen to all the people and represent all the people whether democrat or republican, black or white etc. So give the man a chance I say and pray for him. In his hard fought victory, he deserves our respect to become the President of the USA against all the odds. Where is your faith Oh Christian, or your belief in the power of prayer; that all things are possible for those who believe.

Don’t listen to the false prophets of doom who would seek to divide the nation by coming out with such outrageous statements as ‘Obama is the anti-christ’. Such talk just confirms how extreme and unbalanced some parts of the Christian right in the US have become. Even to Christians their wild imaginings, false accusations and fear tactics have become so scary that many Christians believe they have lost the plot and forgotten the basis of their Christian love for all, and isn’t it true as that with true Christian love ( a love that I didn’t recognize in most of the Christian right scare mongering before the election, indeed some so called Christian leaders should hold their head in shame at some of the blind prejudice and hatred they spewed out prior to the election, it certainly wasn’t Christian), remember all things are possible for those who have faith in the living Lord Jesus Christ..

Obamas victory has given hope to millions not just in the US but around the world. Most of these people had no hope before as they never dared to dream one day a black man would become president of the USA.

I’d simply like to commend the comments from those who are as fed up with right wing negativity , and attempts to denigrate and exclude entire segments of humanity. Rational , and well directed anger , is always a force for good.
I believe the American people , TODAY ; in large measure , demonstrated their varying degrees of anger and dealt with it in a most appropriate fashion – They voted en masse.The results are a turning point in history …..The American Civil war is finally over.

This article show how ignorant and self-serving the people of this country has become. The religious right are always trying to use religion as a means to oppress and persuade people. What we all should be worrying about is the economy and how we are going to do our part in helping to repair the damage and restore the integrity America from the worlds point of view. We have a lame duck President that has done nothing his entire time in office. Ask the religious right where were their voice when America really needed it over the past 8 years. Furthermore I had never read anything in the bible that teachers their beliefs of hatred, separatism and racism. I don’t see them going after the Polygamist,White Supremacy Groups, and other Anti-American Groups that violates their so called Christian values. Everyone that is a law abiding citizen has a right to vote their beliefs without having a group of idiots telling them what their choices should be. Separation of Church and State???? I guess the religious right thinks they are exempt! NOT! If you can’t respect other peoples views and opinions then move to another country because you’ll never own this one. Most people are sick and tired of hearing it. By the way I am a Christian and will never force my values on anyone. Its groups with your values and beliefs that continue to cause dissension in religous communities. I’ll continue to pray for your forgiveness.

Perhaps it’s because of the richness of internet information sources such that I’m noticing it more, or perhaps it’s a problem that’s getting worse. Maybe a little of both.

But the level of American stupidity seems to be at an all time high.

I’m surely not the only one who sees religious fundamentalism as a profound educational/cultural/social/political failure. How can this country be governed when so many believe in such nonsense? A fantasy world of “end times” prophecy; Hollywood-esque monsters like Satan and the so-called Anti-Christ; medieval superstitions like demonic possession; entire infrastructures (Christian home schools, fundamentalist universities, etc.) devoted to industrial scale dogmatism and anti-intellectualism; the proud ignorance behind such views at the earth being only a few thousand years old, and so forth.

Those progressives who get it need to think seriously about how we’re going to correct the profound mistakes of the religious right so that we can have a more intelligent politics.

Half of the world’s species are threatened with extinction, and the religious right is obsessed with gay marriage.

Thousands die every day due to lack of food in other parts of the world, and yet the religious right is bogging us down with the bogus moral panic surrounding stem cell research.

Etc., etc.
