To look at the ubiquitous red state/blue state map in the wake of the Obama landslide is a bit confusing–it’s quite red. Mark Newman of the University of Michigan has stretched and squashed the map until it makes a little more sense. His simple trick was to make a map that reflects population instead of geographical boundaries.
