Ely Wants Your Jobs!
Friday, May 04, 2007 at 10:21 am
An Ely Echo editorial written in the form of a letter to the Minnesota Department of Revenue had its own way of asking for the 50 new jobs that are being created in this northeastern Minnesota resort city.
Their reasons?
The Range DFLers will be most appreciative.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a bargaining chip the next time Tom Bakk and the boys come in?
Also heading up north to check in with employees would be a great reason for a little northern hospitality. And happy employees only minutes from walleye fishing.
And my personal favorite reason for the Department of Revenue to set up the new jobs in Ely?
Sleep better at night.
Worrying about your employees getting mugged on a bus or shot at while walking to work is something no manager should have to have to worry about. Barring doubling the police force in the metropolitan area, sending as many employees as you can to the safe zone of northeast Minnesota is the best thing you can do for your conscience.
