Some on the far right, including local rightwing radio’s Chris Baker, have likened Barack Obama to the anti-Christ, while others have feared the election of the now-president-elect would hearken “the Obamageddon.” (Snopes.com even has an entry debunking the Obama/anti-Christ claim.) So, is the election of America’s first African-American president bringing on the Second Coming, as advertised? Not according to one gauge, The Rapture Index. The “prophetic speedometer of end-time activity,” unchanged for the first six days following the election, ticked up one point today, to 160. Only one of the website’s 45 indicators — which include floods, famine, “Mark of the Beast” and “the Anti-Christ” — shows a gain: Leadership. A note in this category explains, “Barack Obama’s election victory ensures a new liberal shift is coming to Washington, D.C.”
The index’s record high was on Sept. 24, 2001, just weeks after the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks.
Rapture Ready’s Todd Strandberg wrote this morning, “I’ve received dozens of emails pointing out the odd fact that the day after the election, the daily pick-three lottery number in Obama’s home state of Illinois was ‘6-6-6.’” Strandberg says it’s “unlikely” Obama is the anti-Christ, since the “beast of Revelation will come out of Europe.” But he adds, “[E]xpect the prophetic time clock to tick away at a faster rate” in an Obama presidency. The key thing to watch: How he deals with Israel. Strandberg writes:
The Bible warns us that the day will come when Israel is standing by itself against its enemies. For decades, prophecy scholars have wondered what will cause America to become isolated from Israel. Some have wondered if it will be a Russian nuclear attack, while others have thought it might be the impact of the rapture. We can now add the possibility of political change to the list.

I wouldn’t say it is irrelevant, considering how much political sway Rapture believers have.

political sway? where? Tennessee? Appalachia?
i repeat, totally irrelevant …. we don’t need to pay attention to the ‘religious’ nutcases
anymore.

Looking for a beast? Try Congressman Rahm Emanuel. He has God on earth right in his name.

lazercat, apparently you are unaware of how it was that his family took the name Emanuel. you might want to look it up.

Don’t messianic types WANT the second coming? If they really thought BO was the anti-christ it seems like they should have campaigned for him.

It seems plausible to say that the posi-christ, the one American Idolized by a third of the world’s population, is a complete and utter failure. In spite of the posi-christ’s having preached peace and love and honor, the world is filled with evil, hatred, death and war with no end in sight. Consequently, the posi-christ has proven to be as effective as G. W. Bush has been. It may well be high time to adopt the anti-christ and see how that goes.

It is very offensive that people believe themselves so high and mighty and so christian are busy saying evil lies about our next president. The same antichrist charge was being spread around about President Clinton long ago. If anyone is the antichrist right now it is Bush. He is the one damaging the whole world. I know for a fact that the antichrist will come just as though he is Jesus and will have powers that will be beyond belief. He will be so amazing that people all over the world will worship him. The wrong one needless to say. As far as the rapture, there is no such word in the Bible. The rapture theory is just as phony as the men who have made millions on books about it and have suckered so many people.

Sophie..I live in Tennessee and I am a Christian and I DIDN’T vote for Barak Obama because I didn’t care for his policies. Since you are labeling Tennesseans as ignorant, I think if I were you I would do spell check before I submitted a post because the your content of your letter is in bad form. For instance, “i” should be “I” and also do a check on all of the comma’s you are using. I find it extremely funny that you Democrats are so intolerant of others while demanding tolerance for yourselves. I feel nothing but pity for you because you sound angry and anger (your kind) is not good for you. Seek help…
hartman_john..The posi-Christ?? Making words up now? Christ did preach love but He also is not the wimp that you make Him out to be. The Christ I know is NOT a pacifist and one day you will find that out. Christ gave us freewill to do, say and choose what we will. Just like you are doing now. Just like Sophie I think you need some help.
To all of the posters: Get a life..Obama is NOT going to solve your problems unless you are on welfare, food stamps and all of the other social programs that the Democrats put in place.
