Speaking to reporters in the hallway of the State Office Building near the Capitol in St. Paul, Minn., after a meeting at which the state’s canvassing board approved a plan to start a recount Wednesday, U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman’s attorney, Fritz Knaak, said he foresees the U.S. Senate making the ultimate decision on the winner in the race between Coleman and Democratic challenger Al Franken. Citing actions and potential actions by the Franken campaign, Knaak said, “We’re being set up for a Senate decision in the U.S. Senate. That’s my perception.”
Update: GOP chair Ron Carey made this same argument at a press conference. Watch The UpTake’s videos of Carey’s and Knaak’s comments:
Ron Carey, chair, Republican Party of Minnesota
Fritz Knaak, Coleman for Senate attorney

Wow, republicans really only see through their own rose-colored glasses don’t they? Guess the above was fine when it worked for their benefit in Florida in 2000, but perhaps not so so fine now, huh?
Too bad.

Knaak, do us all a favor: Go home, collect your fee, make your Almanac appearance, then STFU and let the recount process proceed.

What color are the skies in Fritz Knack’s imaginary world?

What a spinner. He said he sees no wrongdoing on the part of election officials, but no one accused election officials of any wrongdoing. Some made mistakes. That happens. What shouldn’t happen is legitimate voters lose their votes because of officials’ mistakes.

Carey is just a liar. There haven’t been two counts. In case anyone is confused (this is for you Carey) the votes were counted election night, and the tallies were checked in the following days. Carey is like the Republicans who still claim there were multiple recounts in Florida when in fact none were completed and counted, so in effect many votes were never counted.
And his pretense that there’s still a question about the 32 absentee ballots or the tape in St. Louis County is a complete lie. I’m glad the media present appeared to not fall for it. Carey is the same one who held the press conference accusing Madia of not being demographically correct. What a useless human being.

There’s nothing more clear about a lying dishonest GOP chair. What 2 recounts is he referring to? Gee, makes you wonder what drugs he is on. Clearly, Minnesotans can identify dishonest claims when they hear them. Just STFU and let the recount proceed regardless of the out come.
