Forcing us to live in the shadows There are elements of all groups that we're not proud of.

The married men busted in the bushes having sex with other men are forced there by society. Do you think they want to be there? They have to hide in the shadows and be ashamed of who they are and what they desire. Accept them and the sex will return to the bedroom...or kitchen...or some other room in the house.

And stop walking your dog in the bushes!

Pine City Pride As one of the organizers of the event we were very happy with the significant level of support from all people, straight or gay. The head of the Pine County Republicans even spent a significant amount of time with us. I have Republican friends that support me. And of course, my family was there (Mom and sis). This is a community event. We had well over 200 people (double last year and quadruple the first year).

That is not to say that we did not have slurs shouted from cars driving by (at high speed). It's always scary to hear "Die Faggots!" We did feel a bit nervous about this year's event because of the Patrice DeGray issue (Organizer of the "family value" picnic). We felt she brought unnecessary attention and hate to our event.

We also had Exodus (a group that believes they can convert us gays to straights with prayer and education) set up a booth/Tent right at our event...20 feet away from our stage. We also had people walking through our picnic asking us if we've talked to the "Lord" lately. But, you know we also gave Exodus 1 minute during "open microphone" at our picnic. They said that they were praying for us. Then, they took the time to write down license plate #'s of all the cars in the parking lot. Scary!

See, we need these events to keep educating people about who we are. Someday we won't live in fear!

hey, disgusted Of the 16 men you tripped over in the park, most likely 10 of them had wives and kids at home. Don't for a moment think that you have the monopoly on healthy family values. The people who attended the Pine City event are living in the sunlight. Your written thoughts, on the other hand, come straight (so to speak) from the gutter.

That is, so long as you don't mind tripping over them having off in the bushes while you walk you dog or play with your kids.

I dunno I'm not trying to paint all Republicans as anti-gay or make a point that all DFLers are awesome. I found the two publicly available documents that establish DeGray's authority and public life.

Is it a coincidence the DeGray is a Republican? Or that the MN GOP actively courts the anti-gay fundamentalist vote?

I know it stings when good Republicans try to change the party for the better, and people like DeGray continue their shinanigans making the entire party look anti-gay.

If this was a DFL activist saying these things, I'd certainly point that out too. But it's pretty rare for anyone with the DFL label to engage in this kind of rhetoric. Unfortunately for the GOP, it's fairly common.

The DFL could do more, I don't dispute that.
