Barkley Confirms Existence of Dating Site Profile, Kids That His ‘Political Career is Over’
Monday, June 18, 2007 at 3:02 pm
Saying he was “very, very flattered that people are already digging up dirt,” former Sen. Dean Barkley confirmed that he had posted a profile on the online dating site Match.com.
Barkley, who has been divorced for about a year, joked that “the site is real, and now my political career is over.”
The profile, which was linked to by Minnesota Democrats Exposed, indicated Barkley was interested in dating after getting divorced last year. The site’s owner, former GOP district chair Michael Brodkorb, posted Barkley’s list of what he hoped a potential date would like, which included “Boldness / Assertiveness,” “Brainiacs, “Candlelight” and “Erotica,” among other things.
While the profile could prove somewhat embarrassing for Barkley, whether it would have any serious effect on a potential run for Congress in the 6th District remained to be seen. Match.com has more than 42 million current or former users and is the world’s largest online dating site, and Barkley is far from the only notable person to be listed on the site. Indeed, actress Kara Brock met her husband, author Joseph Bustos, through the site.
For his part, Barkley was bemused. Asked if he was concerned about the website’s effects on his future, he quipped, “Well, if any women out there are interested in dating me, they can certainly get in touch with me.”

Barkley is into porn it is very relevant for MDE to report on a potential oponent of Michelle Bachmann..especially one that claims to be turned on by porn

What? Where do you get the “turned on by porn” idea? Erotica is not necessarily porn, however earnestly the bluenoses of our society wish to condemn it.
The whole thing shows the fundamental poverty of thinking over at MDE.

Survey finds 50% of Evangelical Men Addicted to porn/ 20% of evangelical women I’ll agree – erotica is not porn. Take a look at this survey:

A normal guy So we have the revelation that Barkley is pretty much a normal guy. Are the Repubs saying that automatically disqualifies you from 6CD? It would explain why they think Bachmann is so great for the district.
Personally, I know some people from 6CD. They have a perfectly normal level of embarassment about a lot of things you shouldn’t discuss publicly – such as sexual issues, erotica, and why you think God personally told you to do His work on earth. You know, the usual things that just don’t come up in polite society.
The DFL could do worse than give Barkley a pass.

What is Bachmannism, if not porn? Who is more sexually obsessed: Someone who admits to enjoying erotica, or someone who uses sexuality as a litmus test for morality?
Smut is no less smut when it is peddled by those who affect disgust.
