Third grade student Johnny was sitting in class before the election, his teacher asked how many students would vote for Obama if they could vote. All of the students raised their hands except Johnny. The teacher asked. “Johnny, why didn’t you raise your hand?” Johnny replied, “because I am a republican.” The teacher asked, “well what makes you a republican?” Johnny replied, “well my mom is a republican and my dad is a republican. so I guess that makes me a republican.” The teacher was rather irritated by his response. She then asked, “If your mom is a moron and your dad is an idiot what would that make you?”
Johnny replied with a smile, “a democrat.”

oh and fyi, i did in fact register as a republican in 2000 and tried to cast my lot with mccain, as i didnt want a mouthbreather in the whitehouse, however that dream didnt come true now did it?

ill say it one last time, ill be damned if i ever cast my lot with tree hugging liberals unilaterally, but ill also be damned to vote for a religious idiot. ill vote for the man/women with the HIGHEST IQ and no exceptions. palin is an idiot, obvioualy no one here wants to hear that, but shes a god damned idiot. plain and simple (ask yourself to cite one incitement and intelligent contribution she has made: EVER) p.s. rallying the citizens of real America aka dumbfuckistan does not count

if i had my way id ground up all the men and women with double dig. IQs and use the paste for brick mortar to build a new hospital.

clearly i touched on a sensative subject, perhaps you neglected the part where i stated they were “stereotypes” so no, not all professors are demcrats (although i dare you to find me a liberal nascar fan) but if the GOP base wants to play the label game, AS THEY DID THIS ELECTION: they are going to lose. get over it

and yes, I’ve registered as an independent since day 1, didnt vote for clinton, but didn’t vote for bush, and now, i didn’t vote for (Palin)

Gary makes good points. The only excitement and energy that came out of the McCain campaign during the 2008 election were generated by Sarah Palin. Take her out of the equation, and McCain runs a 1996 Dole/Kemp campaign. In other words….zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I believe Obama won the election due to many Republicans staying away from the polls this year. The Wall Street Journal has a good article on this:

I’ve been rather disappointed in McCain. Governor Palin worked her tail off to get his his pitiful campaign in high gear.

Governor Palin had record crowds come out and see her. Governor Palin helped raise more money in a shorter time than anyone in the history of the GOP.

Before Governor Palin came on board, many local GOP offices suffered from little or no volunteers to help out, mainly because of McCain. In less than one week after her speech at the RNC, most offices were full up with volunteers!

It’s estimated that Governor Palin was worth 10-15 points. McCain would have gotten slaughtered without the Governor’s untiring efforts. This was backed up by her support of Saxby Chambliss, as well. Going into the vote, the last poll had Chambliss up by 5 points. Governor Palin flew in the day before the election and outdrew all of the previous surrogates, for both candidates, combined. Her presence took a 5 point win, and turned it into a 15 point blowout.

Governor Palin suffered through many lies, attacks and the general BS one is put through nowadays to be a candidate. Her daughter was smeared. Her baby was smeared. Her husband was smeared, and her state was lampooned.

But Governor Palin never let up. She was on 24/7.

McCain has had many opportunities to defend Governor Palin since the end of the campaign, and has passed every time. Of course, he’s back to attacking the GOP, and chasing after Obama’s tail to kiss!

Governor Palin is a class act though. She has never bad mouthed anyone. She’s back at work making big news in Alaska, and running that great state.

actually guys, palin may have “invigorated” the base, but the republican base is smaller by population per capita than the democratic party, thus the REAL problem was the centrist vote which i can ASSURE you she did not help your party to get.

mccain is the poster child for centrism, constantly reaching over to the democratic isle and trying to get the best of both worlds, palin on the other hand is about as far right winged as you can get, and scared away the all important centrist vote thus lost your party the election.

“real America”, the AIP, branding obama as a terrorist, not addressing the racism at her rallies, is what pushed me and other independent voters over the edge

all of this talk about how “well she invigorated the base” has gotten under my skin…you know who else invigorated the base? Jimmy Carter, Gamal Nasser, Vlad Dracula (not the vampire you idiot), HITLER, and other wonderful political figures. invigorating the base doesnt count for a damn you dolts.

besides lets do some good ol fasioned sterotyping, it IS the GOP base’s cup of tea ever since the lilly white movement afterall:
