Kersten says goodbye to the Strib
Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 4:43 pm
This morning, conservative Star Tribune columnist Katherine Kersten started saying her goodbyes, informing readers of her blog that her “Think Again” blog and print column are being discontinued. (Apparently she isn’t interested in staying on as a reporter.) “I’ve been informed that my services as a columnist are no longer needed at the Star Tribune,” she wrote. “In the near future, Think Again will have to close up shop. I expect I’ll be able to keep the doors open and the lights on for a couple weeks yet. At some point, I’ll have more to say about my plans for the future.”

Didn’t liberal Star Tribune columnist Nick Coleman get the boot as well?

Nick Coleman’s job is reportedly on the line, too, but I haven’t seen any confirmation that he’s a.) losing his column or b.) leaving the paper. Unlike Kersten, he’s got reporting experience, so maybe he’ll take management up on the offer to stay on in a different capacity. Kersten’s blog post is her confirmation that she’s hitting the road.

Offering Kersten a job as a reporter was as appropriate as offering her a job as an imam.

As happy as I am to say goodbye to KK(K), I’m concerned that the way things are going the Star Tribune will have a smaller staff than the Lake Elmo Leader.

Dreams do come true. Of course I am not sure where we are going to be getting our weekly Imam updates from now.
