Call it a Christmas present for gay and lesbian couples. President Bush signed the Worker, Retiree and Employer Recovery Act of 2008 (WRERA) two days before Christmas. The new law makes it mandatory for businesses to roll over retirement benefits to a same-sex partner in the event of the employee’s death.
Previously, employers could decline and surviving same-sex partners would have to pay tax on the inheritance of the deceased partner’s retirement savings. Legally married heterosexual couples automatically avoid that tax penalty.
National LGBT rights groups hailed the move. “This legislation secures much-needed protection for lesbian and gay couples,” said Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese. “Our community faces unique challenges in preparing for retirement because we are denied Social Security spousal and survivor benefits. Protecting our hard-earned retirement savings is even more crucial to us, and until now, the tax code made it that much harder.”

Ha, Ha. This is too funny.
To my fellow Americans who are of the Fundamentalist persuasion, you must be so proud that you helped elect this guy — twice! Well, that is if you still have a home, job or health care. Pretty soon the definition of being “middle class” will be having any one of those three. So Mr. Bush who does not believe stuff in the Bible literally happened, as our pirate friends like to say it’s more of a “guideline”, he now inks into law a big helping of Gay Rights!
I don’t have a dog in this fight other than I believe that all Americans should be treated equally in law. I don’t know why that’s a great leap for some. Perhaps Mr. Bush has grown a bit and sees things that same way. Or, perhaps it’s just another random act from a guy who essentially couldn’t care less about anyone else, and just got a laugh out of sticking it to his base.

So, he decided to let gay couples keep the money that was theirs to begin with. Wow, how magnanimous of him! Perhaps next he’ll declare that gay couple holding property jointly with rights-of-survivorship, will get to keep that too! After all he has done against us, he gets no points from me for this! But like others have said, at least he, once again, betrayed his base! “Et tu Dub-you”

Add this to the list of “rights” we have in Washington State – I can, as of last year, request an autopsy on my “CUDP”, visit him “legally” in the hospital as “family”, ask that the plug get pulled if he’s terminal and in a coma, and can block his family from ransacking the house after his death. The gay community needs to realize that the Democrats and liberals in general are extremely homophobic towards male-male kissing, for instance. They’re terrified of it. A liberal Democrat will generally do everything in his power to avoid having to see a man kiss another man. It’s a case of “I’m so scared that I might be turned on by this”.

Fun Biblical Facts:
The Savior was prophesied to be a direct descendant of Abraham. Descendancy at the time tracked through the male side, grandfather-father-son. The Church kinda goofed when they decided Jesus would be of virgin birth.
The Ten Commandments were intended for the Jews and applied only to those within. “Thou Shalt Not Kill…another Jew”, etc. For Paul to take these laws and apply them to the Gentiles 400 years later would have made Jesus (a pretty devout Jew) spin in his grave.
The societies portrayed in the Old Testament considered women purely as property. There was nothing wrong with a man telling someone to do as they please with his daughters or wife, it was like loaning someone your horse for the day.
That whole “kill all male children thing” that supposedly happened before Christmas to try to eliminate Jesus? The Bible has the political leader involved placed in the wrong geographical area. It is documented that he called for a census, but that’s about it.
Jesus’ teachings were pacifist. His followers are not. The only sensible conclusion is that modern evangelical Christians must unknowingly be following the Devil, directly into Hell.
The Old Testament God was really, really mean spiteful and angry. There was no consistency in punishment meted out for various transgressions. Somehow that God disappeared in the New Testament.
Today’s Christianity owes more to Constantine wanting to join various parts of his Empire by blending their religious beliefs than it does to anything else. The Nicene Creed was like the Bailout Bill, full of negotiated pork for the various regional leaders.

You “Christians” have a lot of nerve and ego to believe that because you believe something to be true that makes it true and therefore anyone that doesn’t believe that way is committing “sin” and is doomed to “damnation”.
I am just a “messenger”. Yours is not the only way and it is not “the” way. A “sin” is only so if you believe in the concept of “sin”. Did I mention hate?

We all know how much you love Romans 1, seeing that you’re not gay. Just out of curiosity, do you follow these other “wonderful” passages penned by Paul that would affect you (that is, since you put any stock in his blathering)?
I CORINTHIANS 14:34,35
34) Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.
35) And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
I TIMOTHY 2:11,12
11) Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
12) But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

unfortunately, Romans is often quoted out of context. by grabbing just one line out of an entire teaching, conservative christians have gotten the lesson horribly wrong. it was “that which i accuse you of is true of me.” essentially, when i have a problem with someone’s sex life, i have a problem with my sex life (i.e. lust). that is why the sexually frustrated and confused are gay bashers and wife beaters.
this goes on in all areas of life. people who complain about how jealous people are suffer from great jealousy themselves.
the apostle paul goes on to say (paraphrasing) “God hates nothing He creates. Only man hates and blames it on God.” skip a couple more lines and Paul is getting his hate on himself, and saying “God hates when man lies with man, it is abomination.”
This is where liberal and conservative Christian theology divide. The liberal interpretation is that Paul is a man who is repeating what Christ taught him. Not understanding the passage himself, he gets caught up in a screed against gay people. Further study of Paul and his life shows that he is a victim of his own demons regarding sex. He felt that marriage between men and women was “less than Godly” because it was inferior to complete celibacy. If everyone followed Paul’s edicts because they were the literal “word of God” not paul’s understanding Christ’s teachings, then there would be no christians because we wouldn’t be reproducing.
But that’s not how history has treated this teaching. Conservative ideology rarely looks beyond the most literal understanding because it is so neat and clean. it usually requires no exploration of self. it blames others and exonnerates me. why is it that conservative areas of the country have higher infidelity and divorce rates coupled with gay bashings. Jesus would point to Romans I for your first clue. And those “godless” liberal christians who do not “hate the sin, but love the sinner” have lower marital infidelity rates, lower divorce and lower incidents of gay bashings in their part of the country? What about that?
That is what Christ meant when he said “you must take the log out of your own eye before picking at the splinter in your neighbor’s”
Believe what you will, but that is how i have come to understand what that Christian teaching is all about. It also makes you wonder, if that is true – then maybe there is a God up there after all. It would explain why so many virulently anti-gay families have gay children.
ah, just a thought

Tracy –
According to Harvard theologian Peter Gomes, the Romans passage referred to pederasty and male prostitution. The notion of sexual orientation was completely unknown until the late 1800s. Paul could not possibly have been condemning loving, committed same-sex relationships.
But as so many on this forum have pointed out, that is beside the point. We are talking about civil law. Your religious beliefs are irrelevant in this discussion. So are mine (and by the way, I am a Christian too).
If you want to draw more people to Christ, try following his life. Jesus went out of his way to embrace the marginalized. He condemned the people who marginalized them — people like you.
It’s not too late to save your soul, but you have to stop using the Bible as a weapon.

Ah, these Bible-thumping fulminating funamentalists are at it again! They say that they don’t judge, but simply tell us what the Bible says, not knowing that many of us know the Bible better than they do. But of course, they ARE judging, even though they say that they are not. They judge which portions of the Bible to quote, and which to ignore, while denying us the same right.
Among other things, the Bible forbids receiving interest on money. That’s why, in the middle ages, Christians were not permitted to be bankers. Anyone who has a bank account is in violation of the Bible because banks lend deposited funds at interest. There are many things that the Bible forbids, but the fulminating fundamentalists quote the Bible VERY selectively and find ways to explain away rules that they choose not to follow.

Catherine,
Take a look, scroll up and see what I wrote, examine the two different things I wrote, with the exception of the comment about in the end ,which was not cool, Again I did not ,have not ever claimed perfection. There was, and is only one, and his name is Emmanuel! (JESUS)!!with that said! Again…I said what His word says, not exactly( I was nice) to quote Romans 1:26 God said! Paul was the vessel Chosen,26: For this reason GOD gave them over and abandoned them to vile affections and degrading passions, For their women exchanged their natural function for unnatural and abnormal one,
27: And the men also turned from natural relations with women and were set ablaze(burning out, consumed) with lust for one another men committing shameful acts with men and suffering in their own bodies 28:They didn’t think it was important to know God so God let them go he allowed them to have dirty minds. They did things they shouldn’t do.
My God has given, Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth!! (BIBLE)!! and you can choose to
Try and Follow his word for how it is written, Studying for oneself or Listen to mans twisted ways, not all men, I certainly don’t hate anyone as I have stated! I have a Nephew, and a Sister who choose this lifestyle. Do I agree with it? NO.. But, I LOVE THEM both, God gives us all a choice,He was the first Pro-Choice,we will have consequences! Just as they did in Sodom and Gomorrah which is another example for those of you, who care enough to actually look it up Genesis 19:24 Old Test. also God inspired,
If my Beliefs are so irrelevant, They certainly touched a few nerves, so many that I can’t answers to all, some are just mean, others are lack of knowledge! and are able to search out answers for themselves, He left the holy spirit to help !
I did not condemn any one gave straight up facts, Jesus is the one to draws peeps, not my job, I am to tell of him, and point to him! True he loves, What you call MARGINALIZED, Jesus does not and will not put up with rebellion, He did embrace, and then gave people a choice, when you truly encounter His presence you won’t want to disobey him! we all do! and there is hypocrisy, backstabbing, and all the other things that someone mentioned,in the Church,so are you going to stop going to the store, same folks there, The church is a hospital for sick people, yep like me! Not for people who don’t have things they need to work on. ” I am sorry” that you got hurt by people there.
Again I cannot save my soul Catherine, Jesus already did, for me when he died for me, and you, I Trust and have Faith in him, and his word, which by the way is my sword! his word)) not anything I can do to save my soul, done deal,

Andy,
In Leviticus 18:22, God clearly commands,”Do not lie with a man as one lies with a women, that is detestable. “Pro-Homosexual scholars argue that Christians are no longer under the Mosaic law. But we must carefully distinguish the dietary or ceremonial laws (abolished in the New Testament- Mark7:19,Heb.10:8-10) from the moral laws (reinforced in the New Testament and still applicable today–Mark 7:20-23;Matt. 5:27,28).
Differentiating the two types of laws answers the question,”Why do Christians Quote the Old Testament on homosexuality, then ignore the commands that prohibit eating shellfish or wearing clothing of mixed fibers?”
The important distinction between these laws is reflected in the Old Testament penalties for breaking them: Disobedience to the ceremonial laws resulted in uncleanness (Lev.11:24,ect.),
while breaching the moral law meant death (Lev.20).

I’m fine with two ppl of the same sex .. even with raising children .. as two aunts or uncles. Not parents.
It’s unnatural, confuses the child .. first level of socialization happens in the family already then society. There are no bad genes, so to speak.
And by that I mean of the criminal kind. No, I wasn’t gaybashing.
We don’t know if we are born gay or not. Anyhow, the separation of church and state renders this point moot.
I’m for civil unions not gay marriage. Homosexuality has always existed it just is coming out now. And we have to recognize it, and accept it. And we are. From where civil unions. But that is where I’d draw the line.
Marriage is between a man and a woman.
It’s not homophobia it’s tradition. Symbolism, simply put. For some it’s all there is. What I hate is when we are trying to accommodate the wider public the LGBT community accuses us of bigotry. If that were the case why do we bother?
Having said that why even bother .. well, because we care. But it (is) a lifestyle choice. I have no problems with gays, whatever works for you .. they have every right to their .. just don’t hit on me. But if they want to slap each other on the way to the bedroom that’s none of my business.
They still have to understand they are a minority. We have come so far with the system ‘cos it works. Our societies can only change so much at a time .. my fear is if we go tugging on the social fabric, too hard, causing it to unravel .. there’ll be social upheaval.
Then we’re screwed.
So laws serve as an example as well. Sexual preferences aside gays are still human beings, they have just chosen to live differently. Social security, education or health should be made available.
Human rights are having a roof over your head, food on the table ..and the ability to live dignified, in dignity. Anything less is no different from
screening potential gay workers and subjecting them to embarrassing questionnaires.
The only differences in treating gay couples should be with labels. They want the same rights, visiting rights, etc. They don’t care about labels. If yes, sorry, I’m a traditionalist, there we can’t do business. If not, however .. as long as it is a civil union (not marriage or even civil marriage , seen the adoption rights) and they can raise children but not as ‘parents’ I don’t care.
Symbolic value. This is in line with history as well.
Thus, we applaud President Bush. Seen how Obama won, tarnishing the legacy of the greatest living president – Clinton – then tore down a perfectly honorable man (McCain) ..
Obama cheated. Well, yes; he wouldn’t have been able to win had he not become the nominee first. And whereas Bush stole an election Obama the nomination .. where’s the difference?
Where’s the difference? But Obama did smth Bush didn’t that is, go against his own ..
All of a sudden Bush doesn’t look that bad.

Albert,
Oh my gosh. Where to start. You state you are “ok” with two people of the same sex together, but their children are not to call them mom or dad? Exactly how does this help the child? You are asking that the child not have a “mom” or “dad” and basically ostricizing the child once they begin to integrate with other children. You’ve already set these children up as different. You think that’s not going to confuse a child? Children raised by loving parents of opposite or same sex are not confused at all. Sexuality is NOT learned. If this were the case, there would be no gay people at all. Children raised with gay parents are no more likely to be gay then children raised by straight parents. I’m assuming the sexuality of the child is your primary concern over it’s well being and nuturement.
One of my favorite lines used by people like you….”We don’t know if we are born gay”. Love it! Even though all indications are that gays are BORN gay, people who don’t want gays to be equal in society always fall back on this point. If you want to know about what it is to be black in society, do you ask a jew? If you want to know what it is like to be left handed in society, do you ask a right handed person? If you want to know what it is like to be a dwarf, do you ask a Native American? I would assume “no”. But yet when straight people are looking for answers about what it is to be gay, they consult their pastor!!! How STUPID is that? Ask any gay person if they “chose” to be gay, and you will have your answer to this inane line of reasoning that you have. It is not a “lifestyle” like being rich, or being a cowboy. It is a state of being that cannot be changed. Schools used to force left handed people to use their right hand to write with. Did this make those children right handed? No, it just made them students forced to write with a hand that was unnatural and foreign, just to please the majority (right handed people). Same with being gay. Some gays are so full of self-loathing due to people like you who continue to denegrate and separate them from the whole, that they will resort to extreme measures to “fix” themselves. As if they needed any type of fixing to start with. In the end, all they really do is mess them up more, simply so you can feel more comfortable with everyone being the same.
Marriage. Our legal system has already expressed that “separate but equal” is not acceptable. You can’t extend marriage to one group of people, but not another. As for the history of marriage, let’s examine. Marriage was created in order to keep land and property within one bloodline. Women were “property”, not equal partners in the union. Marriage was originally kept between the races. it wasn’t until the late 1960’s that marriage was “re-defined” to include inter-racial couples. To note, if marriage had not been “re-defined”, we would not even have our current presedent-elect, as he is the child of a mixed marriage. Furthermore, if you extend a separate title to gay-unions, you leave to door open for future law-makers to extend laws that only apply to one group and not the other. And once that happens, the two types of union are thus no longer equal. I’m sorry that you have a problem with gays having marriages, but any other termanology is un-equal and thus un-American.
How does a gay couple, having a “marriage” effect straight marriages? I’ve never gotten this line of thought. Do gay’s have that much power over the strength of your union?
Homosexuals do not need you or the public to “accomodate” them. They are U.S. Citizens “entitled” to equality under the law. Your accomodation is neither requested or required. If minorities had to wait for the majority to accomodate them, we would most likely still have slavory in the southern states. This is an irrational point of view.
Once again, being gay is not a lifestyle choice. It is not a sexual preference, it is a sexual orientation. Your vergage is as dated and un-educated as saying “colored person” or “mongaloid”. You say you have no problem with gays, but yet you do. If you didn’t, you wouldn’t be trying so hard to deny them the equal rights of all citizens. If you didn’t have a problem with gays, you wouldn’t worry about them hitting on you. As a gay man, I’ve been “hit on” all my life by women. Does it cause me to go into a mad panic and doubt my own sexuality? No. But obviously it does you. The slap on the ass comment I will leave for the players of the NFL, as it is irrelevent.
Gays haven’t “chosen” to live differently. We live life exactly the same way you do. We are just attracted to the same sex, rather than the opposite, but our lives are exactly the same. Well, except maybe we are hated and vilified a little more than most people. It’s nice that you want to extend education, health and some other items to us. But really, it’s not your place to decide which liberties and laws apply to us. As citizens of this great country, we are entitled to all the same benefits as anyone else. And that includes marriage.
The last part about Bush/Clinton/Obama was too garbled for me to comprehend, let alone comment on.
I will never be my son’s “uncle” in order to make you feel better about yourself. I am and always will be his “father”. And the fact that you think me a lesser dad, because I’m gay speaks volumes about the values that you will be instilling into your children. How sad for them.

You know the usual liberal blatherings speak volumes but this one catches my attention:

Ha, Ha. This is too funny.
To my fellow Americans who are of the Fundamentalist persuasion, you must be so proud that you helped elect this guy — twice! Well, that is if you still have a home, job or health care.”
Are you absolutely kidding me? You see, people like this are so politically nuts that they will remind everyone that Bush was elected because of fundamentalism but won’t admit that it is members of his/her own party when it comes to homopobia or racism. Liberals who voted for Kerry in 2004 voted Pro-FMA, liberals in California voted for Barack and voted pro-prop 8.
Now all the liberals who voted for Prop. 8 want to attack churches now. Any excuse they can make to hate Christianity while their own Presidential elect is now inviting Christian pastors like Rick Warren to his inaugurations and is using his Christianity and middle name of “Hussein” to reach out as a Christian to Muslim countries just as Christ did with the Jews many years ago.
To think, whacked out and crazed hater-filled irreligious liberals voted for this guy believing his promises of communism. Now that he’s coming around and even sent William Ayers packing over to the liberal-writing Huffington Post where he belongs, suddenly they’re beginning to hate him.
Let this be an example. We conservatives always supported Bush and no conservative ever wanted gays to be discriminated against. I’m gay and I am sick of irreligious haters from the left so emtpy and dark in their own lives purposely use my community and the blacks as a reason to vote for idiots like Barney Frank and Nancy Pelosi.
Conservatives are happy with Obama’s latest choices and his mission to introduce Muslims to a Christian way.
Liberals are the ones foaming at the mouth, so the joke is on all of you.
Thanks!

Steve,
I don’t beleive that most liberals “hate Christianity”. But like most neo-Christians, you beleive that becuase we don’t share your enthusiasm for a deity that we think is a fairy tale, that we hate Christianity. Far from it. If it works for you … keep on keeping on.
What we liberals DO hate, is fundamentalists trying to shove their choice of diety down our throats. Your exact words, for example, “Conservatives are happy with Obama’s latest choices and his mission to introduce Muslims to a Christian way.” Who says that Muslims WANT to be introduced to Christianity? Do you, Steve, want to be introduced to the Muslim faith? If you beleive in Christianity, then beleive, but keep the rest of us out of it.
And none of us proud irreligious liberals voted for Obama due to any notions of Communism. We voted for him because we saw his ability to actually “lead” this country, rather then just wanting the title of President and not knowing how to do the job. We saw Obama as someone who could meet with Vladamir Putin and actually accomplish negotiations….not just gaze into his eyes and “read his heart” as Bush did.
You say, “no conservative ever wanted gays to be discriminated against.” Do you even live in the USA? What reality are you on? Try researching these conservative organizations and get back to me on their equality values for gays and lesbians:
Family and Faith Network
American Family Association
Focus on the Family
Catholic Church
Southern Baptist Churches
Exodus International
The list is endless.
Oh, and in closing….I’ll take Barney Frank over your conservative, self hating, closeted Larry Craig and Lindsey Graham ANYDAY.

The comments in here make me just sick to my stomach and ashamed to be gay. Everyone has turned a blind eye to the idiot bigot and his wife they just voted in who isn’t even a legal citizen of this country. Not only is the “gay community” (which I resent is trying to represent ALL gays) doing nothing but making excuses for every anti gay thing obama does, but will throw stones at Bush who inherited all the crap from Carter and Clinton (Community Reinvestment Act of 1977) HELLOOOO…and has tried to do damage control for every stupid thing that the democrats are doing, ie; LETTING CHINA TAKE ALL OUR OFFSHORE OIL BUT MAKING EXCUSES FOR WHY THEY BAN US FROM DRILLING ON OUR OWN SHORES. Why do gays embrace a party line that does NOT embrace us? UAW, blue collar/construction workers (most union workers with exception of teachers and Gov’t workers who usually are neutral), Blacks, Hispanics AND, LAST BUT NOT LEAST, http://WWW.GODHATESFAGS.COM Fred Phelps, are DEMOCRAT. Democrats are typically against gays so I cannot understand why in the hell gays find allegiance in a political party that does not embrace them. President-Elect Obama didn’t appoint even one openly gay person to his senior staff. 21 senior staff positions in the White House. Not one LGBT person. (You’ll recall that Sen. John McCain has a long record hiring openly gay people to senior positions both in his presidential campaign and senate office.) So,…all you “stone throwers” need to stop being so bigoted and base your opinions on fact and not propaganda. The name calling and opinions not based on fact need to stop. Now is the time to really know the facts and base your ideologies on that.

These are some really scary stats and definitely worth reading.
Geert Wilders,
America as the last man standing ‘In a generation or two,
the US will ask itself: who lost Europe ?’
Here is the speech of Geert Wilders, chairman Party for Freedom, the
Netherlands , at the Four Seasons, New York , introducing an Alliance of
Patriots and announcing the Facing Jihad Conference in Jerusalem .
The speech was sponsored by the Hudson Institute on September 25.
Dear friends, Thank you very much for inviting me. Great to be at the Four
Seasons. I come from a country that has one season only: a rainy season
that starts January 1st and ends December 31st. When we have three sunny
days in a row, the government declares a national emergency. So Four
Seasons, that’s new to me.
It’s great to be in New York . When I see the skyscrapers and office
buildings, I think of what Ayn Rand said: “The sky over New York and the
will of man made visible.” Of course. Without the Dutch you would have been
nowhere, still figuring out how to buy this island from the Indians. But we
are glad we did it for you. And, frankly, you did a far better job than we
possibly could have done.
I come to America with a mission. All is not well in the old world. There
is a tremendous danger looming, and it is very difficult to be optimistic.
We might be in the final stages of the Islamization of Europe . This not
only is a clear and present danger to the future of Europe itself, it is a
threat to America and the sheer survival of the West. The danger I see
looming is the scenario of America as the last man standing. The United
States as the last bastion of Western civilization, facing an Islamic Europe
. In a generation or two, the US will ask itself: who lost Europe ?
Patriots from around Europe risk their lives every day to prevent precisely
this scenario form becoming a reality.
My short lecture consists of 4 parts.
First I will describe the situation on the ground in Europe . Then, I will
say a few things about Islam. Thirdly, if you are still here, I will talk a
little bit about the movie you just saw. To close I will tell you about a
meeting in Jerusalem .
The Europe you know is changing. You have probably seen the landmarks. The
Eiffel Tower and Trafalgar Square and Rome’s ancient buildings and maybe the
canals of Amsterdam . They are still there. And they still look very much
the same as they did a hundred years ago.
But in all of these cities, sometimes a few blocks away from your tourist
destination, there is another world, a world very few visitors see and one
that does not appear in your tourist guidebook. It is the world of the
parallel society created by Muslim mass-migration. All throughout Europe a
new reality is rising: entire Muslim neighborhoods where very few indigenous
people reside or are even seen. And if they are, they might regret it.
This goes for the police as well. It’s the world of head scarves, where
women walk around in figureless tents, with baby strollers and a group of
children. Their husbands, or slaveholders if you prefer, walk three steps
ahead. With mosques on many street corners. The shops have signs you and I
cannot read. You will be hard-pressed to find any economic activity. These
are Muslim ghettos controlled by religious fanatics. These are Muslin
neighborhoods, and they are mushrooming in every city across Europe . These
are the building-blocks for territorial control of increasingly larger
portions of Europe , street by street, neighborhood by neighborhood, city by
city.
There are now thousands of mosques throughout Europe . With larger
congregations than there are in churches.
And in every European city there are plans to build super-mosques that will
dwarf every church in the region.
Clearly, the signal is: we rule.
Many European cities are already one-quarter Muslim: just take Amsterdam ,
Marseille and Malmo in Sweden . In many cities the majority of the under-18
population is Muslim. Paris is now surrounded by a ring of Muslim
neighborhoods. Mohammed is the most popular name among boys in many cities.
In some elementary schools in Amsterdam the farm can no longer be mentioned
because that would also mean mentioning the pig, and that would be an
insult to Muslims. Many state schools in Belgium and Denmark only serve
halal food to all pupils. In once-tolerant Amsterdam gays are beaten up
almost exclusively by Muslims. Non-Muslim women routinely hear “whore,
whore”. Satellite dishes are not pointed to local TV stations, but to
stations in the country of origin. In France school teachers are advised to
avoid authors deemed offensive to Muslims, including Voltaire and Diderot;
the same is increasingly true of Darwin . The history of the Holocaust can
in many cases no longer be taught because of Muslim sensitivity. In England
sharia courts are now officially part of the British legal system. Many
neighborhoods in France are no-go areas for women without head scarves.
Last week a man almost died after being beaten up by Muslims in Brussels,
because he was drinking during the Ramadan. Jews are fleeing France in
record numbers, on the run for the worst wave of anti-Semitism since World
War II. French is now commonly spoken on the streets of Tel Aviv and
Netanya, Israel . I could go on forever with stories like this. Stories
about Islamization.
A total of fifty-four million Muslims now live in Europe . San Diego
University recently calculated that a staggering
25 percent of the population in Europe will be Muslim just 12 years from now
Bernhard Lewis has predicted a Muslim majority by the end of this century.
Now these are just numbers. And the numbers would not be threatening if the
Muslim-immigrants had a strong desire to assimilate. But there are few
signs of that. The Pew Research Center reported that half of French Muslims
see their loyalty to Islam as greater than their loyalty to France .
One-third of French Muslims do not object to suicide attacks. The British
Centre for Social Cohesion reported that one-third of British Muslim
students are in favor of a worldwide caliphate. A Dutch study reported that
half of Dutch Muslims admit they “understand” the 9/11 attacks.
Muslims demand what they call ‘respect’. And this is how we give them
respect. Our elites are willing to give in.
To give up. In my own country we have gone from calls by one cabinet member
to turn Muslim holidays into official state holidays, to statements by
another cabinet member, that Islam is part of Dutch culture, to an
affirmation by the Christian-Democratic attorney general that he is willing
to accept sharia in the Netherlands if there is a Muslim majority. We have
cabinet members with passports from Morocco and Turkey .
Muslim demands are supported by unlawful behavior, ranging from petty crimes
and random violence, for example against ambulance workers and bus drivers,
to small-scale riots. Paris has seen its uprising in the low-income suburbs
the banlieus. Some prefer to see these as isolated incidents, but I call
it a Muslim intifada. I call the perpetrators “settlers”. Because that is
what they are. They do not come to integrate into our societies, they come
to integrate our society into their Dar-al-Islam. Therefore, they are
settlers.
Much of this street violence I mentioned is directed exclusively against
non-Muslims, forcing many native people to leave their neighborhoods, their
cities, their countries.
Politicians shy away from taking a stand against this creeping sharia. They
believe in the equality of all cultures.
Moreover, on a mundane level, Muslims are now a swing vote not to be ignored
Our many problems with Islam cannot be explained by poverty, repression or
the European colonial past, as the Left claims. Nor does it have anything
to do with Palestinians or American troops in Iraq . The problem is Islam
itself.
Allow me to give you a brief Islam 101. The first thing you need to know
about Islam is the importance of the book of the Quran. The Quran is Allah
s personal word, revealed by an angel to Mohammed, the prophet. This is
where the trouble starts. Every word in the Quran is Allah’s word and
therefore not open to discussion or interpretation. It is valid for every
Muslim and for all times. Therefore, there is no such a thing as moderate
Islam. Sure, there are a lot of moderate Muslims. But a moderate Islam is
non-existent.
The Quran calls for hatred, violence, submission, murder, and terrorism.
The Quran calls for Muslims to kill non-Muslims, to terrorize non-Muslims
and to fulfill their duty to wage war: violent jihad. Jihad is a duty for
every Muslim, Islam is to rule the world by the sword. The Quran is clearly
anti-Semitic, describing Jews as monkeys and pigs.
The second thing you need to know is the importance of Mohammed the prophet.
His behavior is an example to all Muslims and cannot be criticized. Now,
if Mohammed had been a man of peace, let us say like Ghandi and Mother
Theresa wrapped in one, there would be no problem. But Mohammed was a
warlord, a mass murderer, a pedophile, and had several marriages at the same
time. Islamic tradition tells us how he fought in battles, how he had his
enemies murdered and even had prisoners of war executed. Mohammed himself
slaughtered the Jewish tribe of Banu Qurayza. He advised on matters of
slavery, but never advised to liberate slaves. Islam has no other morality
than the advancement of Islam. If it is good for Islam, it is good. If it
is bad for Islam, it is bad. There is no gray area or other side.
Quran as Allah’s own word and Mohammed as the perfect man are the two most
important facets of Islam. Let no one fool you about Islam being a religion
Sure, it has a god, and a here-after, and 72 virgins. But in its essence
Islam is a political ideology. It is a system that lays down detailed rules
for society and the life of every person.
Islam wants to dictate every aspect of life. Islam means ’submission’.
Islam is not compatible with freedom and democracy, because what it strives
for is sharia. If you want to compare Islam to anything, compare it to
communism or national-socialism, these are all totalitarian ideologies.
This is what you need to know about Islam, in order to understand what is
going on in Europe . For millions of Muslims the Quran and the life of
Mohammed are not 14 centuries old, but are an everyday reality, an ideal,
that guide every aspect of their lives. Now you know why Winston Churchill
called Islam “the most retrograde force in the world”, and why he compared
Mein Kampf to the Quran. Which brings me to my movie, Fitna.
I am a lawmaker, and not a movie maker. But I felt I had the moral duty to
educate about Islam. The duty to make clear that the Quran stands at the
heart of what some people call terrorism but is in reality jihad. I wanted
to show that the problems of Islam are at the core of Islam, and do not
belong to its fringes.
Now, from the day the plan for my movie was made public, it caused quite a
stir, in the Netherlands and throughout Europe . First, there was a
political storm, with government leaders, across the continent in sheer
panic. The Netherlands was put under a heightened terror alert, because of
possible attacks or a revolt by our Muslim population. The Dutch branch of
the Islamic organization Hizb ut-Tahrir declared that the Netherlands was
due for an attack. Internationally, there was a series of incidents. The
Taliban threatened to organize additional attacks against Dutch troops in
Afghanistan, and a website linked to Al Qaeda published the message that I
ought to be killed, while various muftis in the Middle East stated that I
would be responsible for all the bloodshed after the screening of the movie.
In Afghanistan and Pakistan the Dutch flag was burned on several occasions.
Dolls representing me were also burned. The Indonesian President announced
that I will never be admitted into Indonesia again, while the UN Secretary
General and the European Union issued cowardly statements in the same vein
as those made by the Dutch Government. I could go on and on. It was an
absolute disgrace, a sell-out.
A plethora of legal troubles also followed, and have not ended yet.
Currently the state of Jordan is litigating against me. Only last week
there were renewed security agency reports about a heightened terror alert
for the Netherlands because of Fitna.
Now, I would like to say a few things about Israel . Because, very soon, we
will get together in its capital. The best way for a politician in Europe
to lose votes is to say something positive about Israel . The public has
wholeheartedly accepted the Palestinian narrative, and sees Israel as the
aggressor. I, however, will continue to speak up for Israel . I see
defending Israel as a matter of principle. I have lived in this country and
visited it dozens of times. I support Israel . First, because it is the
Jewish homeland after two thousand years of exile up to and including
Auschwitz, second because it is a democracy, and third because Israel is our
first line of defense.
Samuel Huntington writes it so aptly: “Islam has bloody borders”. Israel is
located precisely on that border. This tiny country is situated on the
fault line of jihad, frustrating Islam’s territorial advance. Israel is
facing the front lines of jihad, like Kashmir, Kosovo, the Philippines,
Southern Thailand, Darfur in Sudan, Lebanon, and Aceh in Indonesia . Israel
is simply in the way. The same way West-Berlin was during the Cold War.
The war against Israel is not a war against Israel . It is a war against
the West. It is jihad. Israel is simply receiving the blows that are meant
for all of us. If there would have been no Israel, Islamic imperialism
would have found other venues to release its energy and its desire for
conquest. Thanks to Israeli parents who send their children to the army and
lay awake at night, parents in Europe and America can sleep well and dream,
unaware of the dangers looming.
Many in Europe argue in favor of abandoning Israel in order to address the
grievances of our Muslim minorities. But if Israel were, God forbid, to go
down, it would not bring any solace to the West. It would not mean our
Muslim minorities would all of a sudden change their behavior, and accept
our values. On the contrary, the end of Israel would give enormous
encouragement to the forces of Islam. They would, and rightly so, see the
demise of Israel as proof that the West is weak, and doomed. The end of
Israel would not mean the end of our problems with Islam, but only the
beginning. It would mean the start of the final battle for world domination
If they can get Israel , they can get everything. Therefore, it is not
that the West has a stake in Israel . It is Israel. It is very difficult
to be an optimist in the face of the growing Islamization of Europe . All
the tides are against us.
On all fronts we are losing. Demographically the momentum is with Islam.
Muslim immigration is even a source of pride within ruling liberal parties.
Academia, the arts, the media, trade unions, the churches, the business
world, the entire political establishment have all converted to the suicidal
theory of multiculturalism. So-called journalists volunteer to label any
and all critics of Islamization as a ‘right-wing extremists’ or ‘racists’.
The entire establishment has sided with our enemy. Leftists, liberals and
Christian-Democrats are now all in bed with Islam.
This is the most painful thing to see: the betrayal by our elites. At this
moment in Europe’s history, our elites are supposed to lead us. To stand up
for centuries of civilization. To defend our heritage. To honor our
eternal Judeo-Christian values that made Europe what it is today. But there
are very few signs of hope to be seen at the governmental level. Sarkozy,
Merkel, Brown, Berlusconi; in private, they probably know how grave the
situation is. But when the little red light goes on, they stare into the
camera and tell us that Islam is a religion of peace, and we should all try
to get along nicely and sing Kumbaya. They willingly participate in, what
President Reagan so aptly called: “the betrayal of our past, the squandering
of our freedom.” If there is hope in Europe , it comes from the people, not
from the elites. Change can only come from a grass-roots level. It has to
come from the citizens themselves. Yet these patriots will have to take on
the entire political, legal and media establishment.
Over the past years there have been some small, but encouraging, signs of a
rebirth of the original European spirit. Maybe the elites turn their backs
on freedom, the public does not. In my country, the Netherlands , 60
percent of the population now sees the mass immigration of Muslims as the
number one policy mistake since World War II. And another 60 percent sees
Islam as the biggest threat to our national identity. I don’t think the
public opinion in Holland is very different from other European countries.
Patriotic parties that oppose jihad are growing, against all odds. My own
party debuted two years ago, with five percent of the vote. Now it stands
at ten percent in the polls. The same is true of all military-minded
parties in Europe . They are fighting the liberal establishment, and are
gaining footholds on the political arena, one voter at the time.
Now, for the first time, these patriotic parties will come together and
exchange experiences. It may be the start of something big. Something that
might change the map of Europe for decades to come. It might also be Europe’s
last chance.
This December a conference will take place in Jerusalem . Thanks to
Professor Aryeh Eldad, a member of Knesset, we will be able to watch Fitna
in the Knesset building and discuss the jihad. We are organizing this event
in Israel to emphasize the fact that we are all in the same boat together,
and that Israel is part of our common heritage. Those attending will be a
select audience. No racist organizations will be allowed. And we will only
admit parties that are solidly democratic. This conference will be the start
of an Alliance of European patriots. This Alliance will serve as the
backbone for all organizations and political parties that oppose jihad and
Islamization. For this Alliance I seek your support.
This endeavor may be crucial to America and to the West. America may hold
fast to the dream that, thanks to its location, it is safe from jihad and
shaira. But seven years ago to the day, there was still smoke rising from
ground zero, following the attacks that forever shattered that dream. Yet
there is a danger even greater danger than terrorist attacks, the scenario
of America as the last man standing. The lights may go out in Europe faster
than you can imagine. An Islamic Europe means a Europe without freedom and
democracy, an economic wasteland, an intellectual nightmare, and a loss of
military might for America – as its allies will turn into enemies, enemies
with atomic bombs. With an Islamic Europe, it would be up to America alone
to preserve the heritage of Rome , Athens and Jerusalem .
Dear friends, liberty is the most precious of gifts. My generation never
had to fight for this freedom, it was offered to us on a silver platter, by
people who fought for it with their lives. All throughout Europe American
cemeteries remind us of the young boys who never made it home, and whose
memory we cherish. My generation does not own this freedom; we are merely
its custodians. We can only hand over this hard won liberty to Europe ’s
children in the same state in which it was offered to us. We cannot strike
a deal with mullahs and imams. Future generations would never forgive us.
We cannot squander our liberties. We simply do not have the right to do so.
This is not the first time our civilization is under threat. We have seen
dangers before. We have been betrayed by our elites before. They have
sided with our enemies before. And yet, then, freedom prevailed. These are
not times in which to take lessons from appeasement, capitulation, giving
away, giving up or giving in. These are not times in which to draw lessons
from Mr. Chamberlain. These are times calling us to draw lessons from Mr.
Churchill and the words he spoke in 1942:
“Never give in, never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large
or petty, never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense.
Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of
the enemy.

Eric,
Your second posting was a complete waste of space and time. Nothing to do with the topics being discussed here. I will however, address some of the comments from your first post.
1) Barack Obama was born in Hawaii. That makes him a natural citizen of this country. All the hoopla about how long his mother was in U.S. or not is irrelevent. Anyone born on U.S. soil is a naturalized citizen.
2) Fred Phelps is a democrat who refuses to change his party affiliation because he beleives the party changed. So, while registered as a Democrat, he does not beleive in the party. Point is moot. Besides, he’s a first class nut job.
3) Republicans always fall back on the excuse of “inheritence”. Well, you’ve had 8 years of Republican control and the country has seen NOTHING get better. So now of course, when things begin to get better in 2010, you will take credit for having “set it up”. It’s a load of crap that continues to stink.
4) Dick Chaney was the person who claimed that China was drilling 60 miles from the coast of Florida. It was a couple days later that he corrected himself and apologized for accusing China of doing something that they weren’t. But like parrots, people continue to spread this rumor as truth.
5) Neither Bush Senior or Bush Junior or McCain ever mentioned “gays” in their innauguration and campaining speaches. Both Clinton and Obama have always said the word “gay” and included us as a respected minority within their campains.
6) Barack Obama has THE MOST PRO GAY voting record of any of the Democratic candidates.
7) The Defense of Marriage Act was drafted by then Republican Bob Barr (who now admits it is a poor policy). Some of the worst anti-gay voting records and anti-gay influencers have been issued by closeted gays within the Republican party – Mark Foley, Larry Craig, Bob Allen, Terry Dolan, David Dreier, James Guckert, Ken Mehlman, Armstrong Williams, Ted Haggard… to name but a few. Republicans are NOT an inclusive party, and repeatedly vote against measures that would extend equality to gays. It was the Republican Party that made Gay Marriage a wedge issue to bring out conservative voters in 2004. Bush announced at a Rose Garden press conference that he’d assigned lawyers to come up with a plan to stop gay marriage. It was Republicans that denounced John Kerry for mentioning Cheney’s gay daughter. How dare he? Even though one of her previous positions with Coor’s Brewery was designed specifically for her to be an ambassodor to the gay community, Republicans didn’want to hear about it. And John McCain has spoken publicly that he doesn’t beleive gays should serve in the military, be allowed to adopt children or have the right to marry. This doesn’t sound so inclusive to me. Hiring a gay person, and beleiving they have equal rights is two different issues.
These are FACTS, and thus what my ideology is based on. And as a liberal gay man, beleive me, I do not include you when I speak for “my people”.

My comment to Tracy Ramirez, when you quote Romans 1, posted December 30, 2008 @ 3:28 pm: so there is no Judgment they on your comment, this passage was written to among whom you also are the (L)called of Jesus Christ;
7to all who are (M)beloved of God in Rome, called as (N)saints: (O)Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. This was written to the Saints, later on in this passage Paul stated that “such where some of you”, so there is freedom from this practice. There were people practicing this in the Church at that time, it is wrong to do these acts, who are we to judge another mans (God’s) servant. This is not a holy act and God does condemn the act, but Love’s the person, Scripture says that Love covers the multitude of sin. Many believe that being cruel to someone just because there sin is not the same as our sin, we will all be accountable for our own choices. But the Love of God is big enough to love the Homosexual back to Him.
As far as what Bush has done is to show decency to the sinners of this world and give them some type of livelihood in the course of financial hardship that looks like mercy to me.
His Mercies are new every morning, even when we judge harshly, the judgement should be on us.

So sick of the bible thumpers trying to impose their rules and belief system on my family. You do your thing, I’ll do mine. I’ve heard more hate from non judgmental loving Christians than anyone else.
It’s the same hatefulness that keeps me from exposing my family to it.
Please clean your own house of adultery, child abuse, divorce, drug use, thievery etc etc and stop trying to clean my house. My family isn’t bigoted against anyone. I like it that way. You are so preoccupied with a “sex act” that you fail to see the person or the family. Hang out in a porn shop. You’ll find lots of people to save. (oops! maybe even your husband).
I’ll fight for equal rights till I fall. When I do, someone else will pick up the rainbow flag and trudge on. We aren’t going away. Things are better than they were 20 years ago! As we raise our families, we teach them love and not bigoted hate. Our children are tomorrows voters. It might be three steps forward and two steps back but at least we get a step in there. Don’t give up the “faith”. Never drop the rainbow flag. Hurtles put up by bigots are merely hurtles not an ending.
So, on that note… I kissed a girl and I liked it. I’ve followed my heart ever since. I don’t care what you think and won’t succumb to your rules values or standards. I love my life. It’s been a fabulous one.
