Build it Right! I read today that Governor Pawlenty said that Light Rail is off the table because it would take too long to build the bridge. Taxpayers should know that by adding light-rail provisions to the proposed new I35W Bridge would save our State and the nation's taxpayers as a whole $200 million. This would be accomplished by eliminating the need to build an LRT tunnel and do extensive upgrades to the Washington Avenue Bridge that connects the University campuses. I am tired of hearing about building the bridge fast, I want it done right! Right means building it with care not speed; right means looking to the future and not adding just lanes to the bridge but economical, environmentally friendly alternatives to driving automobiles into and out of an already stressed Minneapolis traffic system; right means that the governor doesn't cut corners; right means saving the taxpayer's money.

I am going to one of the open forums.
