Lieberman doesn’t know what a PDF is?

As a presidential candidate, Republican John McCain apparently saw former Democrat Joe Lieberman as a strong pick for running mate. Given McCain’s admission that he’s a computer “illiterate” and Lieberman’s cluelessness about technology — revealed at today’s confirmation hearing for Peter Orszag as Barack Obama’s head of the Office of Management and Budget — they might’ve made a fitting pair. On OMB transparency, Orszag said he’d like to “create a Web site that will contain information about the contracts and include PDFs or contracts themselves.” To that, Lieberman indicated he didn’t know the acronym for the ubiquitous file format: “Define PDFs.”

I guess the world won’t be safe until you’ve thoroughly derided every last Republican. That task well along and moving on to conservative Democrats, lets dress down one Joe Lieberman who decided for once to vote his heart(what a concept for a politician) and go with McCain. Imagine his total ignorance at not knowing the hip PDF format. I guess the tolerance you liberals claim to have doesn’t include a tolerance for ideas that don’t measure up to your elitist standards.
Keep fighting the good fight. I hope I live long enough to hear you rip into a liberal Democrat with equal vigor.

Dope: Lieberman isn’t a Republican. He’s an independent. And my dear old dad, as well as the elderly woman I was chatting with in the electronics section at Best Buy, will be pleased to hear that they’re hip for knowing what a pdf is.

It’s 2009. If you don’t know what PDF is, you’re living under a rock. Nothing conservative or republican about that. It’s just ignorance. We don’t use WordPerfect or Lotus 123 anymore.

PDF was invented in 1993, which was sixteen years ago, when lieberman was 51. PDF is widely used throughout the Internet, including on government websites–including http://lieberman.senate.gov (go there and search for PDF). Apparently in sixteen years he couldn’t be troubled to look at his own website.

Not to beat a dead horse, but the PDF format was invented by Adobe in 1990. If it was ever hip, it’s certainly too old for that now.
