Lourey Supporters Launch Gay Marriage Site

Supporters of Becky Lourey for Minnesota Governer have launched a new website targeting the LGBT community for the September 12 primary. The site, www.supportbecky.com, features a playful cartoon caricature of Becky Lourey holding up a wedding ring in front of two men in tuxedos and two women in wedding dresses. Above the cartoon the website says “Becky’s Your ‘Best Man’ for Minnesota Governor.”
The site includes quotes on same-sex marriage from 3 candidates for governor. Becky Lourey supports full rights for LGBT Minnesotans, while her opponent for the DFL primary, Mike Hatch, is against same-sex marriage, but also does not support a constitutional amendment. Republican Tim Pawlenty has been outspoken in his support for an amendment to the Minnesota Constitution to end domestic partnerships, and ban civil unions and same-sex marriage.
Creators of the website say that it was produced independent of the Becky Lourey campaign. Although the Lourey campaign is aware of it, the only input they gave the creator was that it was an accurate representation of Lourey’s views on the LGBT issues listed on her campaign site.
