It was a veritable “fire sale” outside Norm Coleman’s former senatorial office in Washington’s Hart Building yesterday, Politico reports. Oodles of office supplies were there for the taking, prompting apparent excitement among stapler-deprived aides. “We just received a bipartisan gift of 3 3-hole punches from staffers cleaning out Sen. Coleman’s office,” wrote one staffer to Politico. “They are throwing away perfectly good office supplies – looks like they may be on a time deadline of clearing stuff out.”

Meanwhile, in the GOP’s efforts to see that Coleman repopulate that office, the Senate Republican conference sent a letter to Majority Leader Harry Reid, urging him to not seat Al Franken. “Senate Republicans will actively oppose any Senate action that circumvents the will of Minnesotans or attempts to short-circuit any process that is designed to provide an accurate result,” the letter said.
