sharkeyJonathon Sharkey, who ran for governor (and later president) as the Vampires Witches and Pagans Party candidate in 2006, has been arrested, the Rochester Post-Bulletin reports. A self-described “Satanic Sanguinary Vampyre and Hecate Witch” who campaign under the moniker “The Impaler,” Sharkey is accused of threatening a young woman he dated when she tried to break it off. According to the criminal report, in 2007, the 16-year-old left a message on Sharkey’s MySpace page in support of his presidential run. After she indicated she wanted to end an online courtship, things got weird(er). Sharkey, who reportedly referred to the girl as his wife and princess, wouldn’t accept.

The Rochester Post-Bulletin:

She said that “in a desperate attempt” to get him to leave her alone, she e-mailed him that she was a member of an elite vampire hunter society and for the two of them to continue their relationship would put him in danger. She said that he called her cell phone and that she answered only after he sent her an e-mail threatening to call her family.

The complaint said that on Aug. 28, a Rochester police sergeant called Sharkey, who said he was a 2008 presidential candidate and a vampire “who needs to drink human blood for strength.”

Sharkey appeared in Olmsted County court in mid-December, where his court-appointed defender requested a lowering of his $75,000 bail. The court responded by upping it to $125,000. No hearing date has yet been set.

The biggest threat he could muster was to call her family?
Tremble mortals, before the great King of Vampires!!!
Kneel before him or he’ll tell on you!
Satanism is absolutely ridiculous self-delusion.

The mighty political machine of Sharkey may have been the driving force behind the
4% spoil rate of absentee ballots. It all makes sense now.

Looks like there is docu-comedy coming about Sharkey called “Impaled: Painfully Blunt!”
