Minnesota Monitor Makes ‘The Metro 100′

Metro Magazine’s October issue features a “list of all the people, places and things that make the Twin Cities our favorite conjoined metropolitan area on the whole gosh darn planet.” Minnesota Monitor appears on the unranked “ Metro 100” list just after “Minnesota’s Poster Boys,” Dan Ibarra and Michael Bzyewski of design firm Aesthetic Apparatus (pictured on the issue’s cover), and State Fair butter sculptures:

If political bloggers are all reactionary, derivative armchair pundits, the Minnesota Monitor is no political blog.  Consistently the best place to find local news and political analysis, this admittedly left-leaning Web site bucks the trend by actually reporting.  It scored a coup (and, perhaps, foretold the future of local journalism) last year when Eric Black, the long time Star Tribune reporter and curator of that paper’s popular blog “The Big Question,” left the paper to join MNMon.
