Political graffiti hits freight cars
Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at 4:31 pm
Just Seeds, the Portland, Ore.–based activist art collective posts a series of photos of freight-car graffiti murals that express outrage over the economy. Inked by “ALB” — the Abe Lincoln Brigade — the all-caps pieces spell out BAILOUT, POVERTY (accompanied by a cartoon image of Scrooge McDuck) and, a bit less timely, IMPEACH. The pieces often include smaller type: “Secret Prisons,” “Liars, Killas, Cronies,” “Consolidating Power.” The local angle: Just to the left of the BAILOUT mural is a character created by the Twin Cities’ own Deuce 7. Apparently they get around: IMPEACH spotted in Missouri, Seattle, Compton, LA, Canada…
Plus a few more by ALB:
Debt Slaves
Torture
And another IMPEACH that has a guillotine for the “I” and an accompanying line, “Rolling Heads of State.”
