ppPlanned Parenthood’s Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota Action Fund has launched a new advocacy website, with the hope that it will serve as a focal point for pro-choice activists.

The site features news, a weblog and information about issues related to reproductive health.  The site also provides links to Planned Parenthood’s activity on social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace.
“We’re excited to launch a site that fully reflects the work we do in all three states,” said Tim Stanley, the executive director of the Action Fund.  “We hope that the site will serve to connect, educate and engage grassroots activists, supporters and voters interested in preserving and protecting reproductive health care and justice.”

The Action Fund is the lobbying and political activism wing of Planned Parenthood. It works to support the organization as well as to support legal access to abortion.

Organizations of all political stripes are continuing to expand their web presence to take advantage of the ability of the Internet to bring together people with similar interests.  The division of Planned Parenthood that services Chicago recently used the Internet to organize pro-choice activists across the country in support of the opening of a new clinic in Aurora, Ill., and anti-abortion activists organized demonstrations against the clinic by making announcements on weblogs.
