From SurveyUSA:
——–
In a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for Roll Call, the newspaper of Capitol Hill, two of U.S. Senator Norm Coleman’s possible Democratic challengers run even with Coleman in head-to-head matchups today.

In an election today, 11/05/07:

  * Norm Coleman (R) 46%
  * Al Franken (DFL) 45%

  * Norm Coleman (R) 44%
  * Mike Cirsei (DFL) 44%

  * Coleman holds 89% of the GOP base against either opponent.
  * Both Democrats hold 84% of the Democratic base against Coleman.
  * Among Independents, Coleman leads by 6 against Franken and by 4 against Ciresi.
  * Among Moderates, Franken leads by 5, Ciresi leads by 8.
  * Franken runs 20 points better among women than among men. Ciresi runs 25 points better among women than among men.

Does that mean Michael Brodkorb and his GOP clients are irrelevant? Brodkorb, the MN GOP and Norm’s other backers have been flogging Franken’s past statements relentlessly for months, and Franken’s numbers against Brodkorb’s client Norm have only gone up. Maybe no one really cares.

As for women’s opinion of Norm, another question pollsters should maybe be asking is whether they’ve had a past relationship with Norm. That could explain this disparity.
