Sorry, Barth, the Pioneer Press provides a lot of its content free for only two weeks. I think that's the problem.

Pie-in-Ear Press Editorial Page Editor Mike Burbach couldn't edit The Weekly Reader. Remember, this is the goy who hired Craig Leftovers as his right-hand boy.

Let's illustrate:
- you have a dog
- you say to your wife, 'if this dog was a cat, it would meow'
- [asks dog to meow, it barks]
- wife says, ' you need a new dog'

As pointed out on their own comment thread, the main problem with the PP editorial is the category error of defining the election as a measurement instrument for voter preference.

If you want to measure voter preference, use a random sample survey done properly.

An election is a statutorily defined method for picking a winner among candidates for an office. Those candidates spent countless hours and dollars making sure the voter who turn out are anything but random.

We have a universe of ballots and a method for counting them. There will be a winner. There is even a method for resolving a tie (coin toss). The entire idea of "statistical tie" is misapplied. We do not have a statistical question, but a legal one.
