Weekly Walking Tours on I-35W Bridge Progress Begin (Video)
Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 2:32 pm
Anyone curious about construction of the Interstate 35W bridge replacement will have a chance to question officials at a series of weekly walking tours. Flatiron-Manson construction and the Minnesota Department of Transportation held the first of these “sidewalk superintendent talks” this morning.
The guided walks above the construction site on the 10th Avenue bridge will take place every Saturday at 11 a.m.; those wishing to join should meet on the corner of Washington and 19th avenues. Project managers will explain work that’s underway and answer questions from the public.
Some of the noisiest work is scheduled to begin in the next week. Crews will be hammering large steel piles into the ground between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Click on the video above to see workers preparing the site and hear project manager Peter Sanderson explain their progress.
