Target Sells “Used” Electronics
Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 5:12 pm
Target has become the first major retailer to offer refurbished products. Instead of sending returns or defective items back to vendors, they’re fixing some of them and reselling them at a discount. Each item — including flat-screen TVs, GPS devices and iPods — have been refurbished by “either a manufacturer-authorized or Target-managed third party” and deemed “essentially good as new.” Response to the web-only experiment, begun just over a month ago, has reportedly been good, but the Minneapolis-based chain isn’t yet sure it’ll continue it.
