Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 5:37 pm
William Juneau, a 36-year-old Rush City resident with 10 years of law enforcement experience in Minnesota, was killed in Iraq Monday by an improvised explosive device. An international police advisor for DynCorp International, Juneau has been in Iraq since 2006 helping “ train, mentor and advise the Iraqi Police Services.” His convoy was 50 miles southeast of Baghdad when the IED struck his vehicle. In his final blog post, dated Nov. 11, Juneau shared that, “By now everyone is pretty much running on empty. We have absolutely no sense of humor about anything.” The site has become an impromptu memorial for Juneau.
More than 1000 civilian contractors have died in Iraq, as well as 56 military personnel from Minnesota.
