Open Circuit is a Twin Cities knowledge- sharing network of local open source technology enthusiasts on a mission to demystify computers and information technology. That means community organizations that may not have sufficient budgets to hire consultants and dedicated tech staff can use the collective knowledge of Open Circuit to increase their organizing capacity.

The group is hosting their first event Saturday, entitled Short Circuits, consisting of a series of 10-15 minute presentations about using open source technology to better our community. Presentation topics include building a community wireless mesh network, video blogging, and social media utilization.

While the group is unique to the Twin Cities, similar organizations exist in Portland, Milwaukee, and Chicago.
