Your comment is non committal. Should I assume you are being sarcastic, or that you really think it was a good summation?

“I am relieved that no one was killed” is a summation of my feelings regarding the welfare of both the protesters and the police. When sentiments run high, bad things can happen. Things much worse than what did happen.

I didn’t attempt to provide my summation of the state of first amendment rights at the RNC. My sense is that they survived the convention too.

Both the cops and the protesters had difficult jobs to do. Neither group is likely blameless. Both sides were pawns however in the larger game that was played out inside the convention center. There were anarchists and bad cops and there were protesters and good cops; I am relieved that no one was killed.

We have a new President now and the ideology of the Bush years that engendered much of the anger that precipitated the protests has been repudiated. The few that continue to cling to that failed ideology are self destructing. If the pursuit of these law suits is intended to correct a known local law enforcement issue, then they may have value. If the intent is to challenge the establishment, the establishment is now under new management and these lawsuits could just be an ongoing distraction.
