We’ve had “Representation WITH taxation,” faith-in-God-in-government, Franken-Coleman to the Supremes, ”Michael Steele, you be da man. You be da man” and “You be da man (Remix).” To cleanse the palette, here’s one last set of comments by a Minnesotan from last weekend’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC): Gov. Tim Pawlenty on his wife, Norm Coleman and Ronald Reagan.
Norm has a plausible chance, a decent chance of winning this thing.
We need to develop new Ronald Reagans and new reference points. It would be as if Barack Obama was going around and constantly talking about Truman or LBJ. It’s just become a reference point that isn’t as relevant for young people.
Pawlenty on his own wife:
I want to acknowledge and thank my beautiful wife, Mary. She’s amazing, she’s fantastic and … she’s hot, absolutely.
The first two comments were made away from the podium, but the last was from Pawlenty’s big 20-minute CPAC speech. The insight into the First Couple’s sexual dynamics (last detailed in T-Paw’s famous 2008 fishing-opener remarks) come at the two-minute mark of this video clip:

I am always amazed at that a politician would describe his wife as “hot” to a group that is dominated by religious conservatives many of whom profess that a woman should be modestly attired in “conceal, not reveal” garments.
Considering that Mrs. Pawlenty is 47 and a mother of two daughters, has anyone asked her (or her daughters) if she likes that public description ? My wife would kill me if I said that in public … and my wife is HOT !

Pawlenty has made these remarks before about his wife, or maybe he was commenting on other women’s appearances. Does he think no GOP opponent would do to him what his party did to Franken with this stuff?

Pawlenty is safe in making these comments about women. After all, they’ve alienated many women with their far right pandering and there probably aren’t many women listening to them at this point anyway. Pawlenty is getting pretty “out there” with his religious fervor and conservatism at all costs approach to public office. This guy is divisive and all about furthering his career. I sure hope people wise up to him in the coming election.

Oh come on Crohnsguy – Pawlenty would make a great candidate and anyone that sees him as divisive just doesn’t get it.
