Edina’s “McMansions” At Issue

On December 4th, the Edina City Council decided not to vote on a moratorium on construction of large homes, commonly called “McMansions.” Council members state that the issue is still on the table and are seeking an alternative resolution.
To help us better understand what a “McMansion” is and why Edina is considering the moratorium, Building Minnesota refers to a video first posted on YouTube in October, in which residents of Edina’s Oaklawn Avenue voice their concerns regarding the construction of a 5,400 square-foot home being built in their early-twentieth century neighborhood.
