Bachmann's office being run like the Kremlin Bachmann's offices refused to provide names of staffers in the district when constituents called about this recent massacre. They lied about the disposition of staffers who had been fired. One person in the St. Cloud office hung up on me when I asked for her name. All calls were directed to Bachmann's chief of staff in Washington, who returns calls like (former) mouthpiece Heidi Frederickson--i.e., never.

Bachmann refuses to talk to most reporters, other than the Strib's fashion reporters. Her mailings are selective and her e-mail alerts nonexistent. She simply ignores constituent inquiries unless they're from her base. In short, Bachmann is running her congressional district offices like a private corporation--or the Kremlin. Fully half her constituents are treated like second-class citizens simply because they disagree with her.

Fred is correct--installing someone like Julie Quist to run the 6th District offices is nothing short of a big FU from Bachmann. If you thought things couldn't get worse, just wait.

Clarity within, but disarray elsewhere Given that the metro suburbs are trending away from the GOP, firming up an uncompromising conservative - nay, radical conservative - organization sends an "in-your-face" message to the Minnesota electorate. Penny-wise and pound-foolish.

Dane Smith ID Dane is indeed a former Strib reporter, but his current job should also be ID'd - as president of Growth & Justice, the not-very-Bachmanesque think tank that likely stands opposite damn near everything Michelle stands for.

Not that he isn't correct, of course, but readers deserve fuller disclosure.
